are you running spacers?

that doesnt sound right

Cam, the last time I checked it a while back it measured 5" from the inner edge of the rim where it bolts up to the outer lip. There fairly older Pro Comps. Did I not measure correctly? I purchased the wheels used from an individual so I'm not 100% sure. Its a possibility I messed up the measurement I suppose??

I ran 37x14.5 on 8" wide rims for awhile. Pretty balloony looking, but worked.

Now same tires are on beadlocks that are about 9" wide. Backspacing works out to around 2".

Flipped 4" spring F&R, trimmed rear like Station Wagon, front fenders trimmed to just flat part. Probably go tube fender at some point.
I think I've posted this pictures before, but they are the only ones I have after the most recent changes.

cruisin, your rig looks really nice. how far did the flip in the rear move your rear axle? i have the tube fenders for the front, so im not worried about rubbing their just in the rear. wish i had some places that like around here to offroad, east texas does not have to many good options. who makes those beadlocks? i keep seeing rigs i like with black wheels and a lighter color, but i like red, but i dont know how the red will look when decked out with offroad gear. do you have a link to more pictures of your rig?

big red, just look up what wheels you have on the manufacturers website, that should give you the correct BS if its not 5"

Right or wrong here is what I did....

I used a piece of cardboard to trace my factory curves:

I then placed a piece of 2" tape across the top and a 3/4" up the front and then used my cardboard jig to retrace the factory curves:

Then I chopped and hacked away! :D

By doing so though I had flipped my rear springs knowing that I may have been a bit of a sissy on my cut and I was right I need to move my rearend forward an inch to center up

This was my aproach at 37's with a stock-ish look on the fenders ?????????

You said you cut 3/4 on the front 2" on the top. What did you cut off the back when you trimed your tub? Looks like about 4"?

Do you have any finished pictures with the fliped spring and a the 37" trie on the truck?

Tim

you measured backwards, try center to the inner edge

i understand backspacing and offset a little bit, just don't know what the best specs for the 40 are.

went to get a few qoute today at some places for tires, they add in shipping if they price match, so im gonna try some small shops tomorrow and see if they won't count in shipping cost.

so here is a new plan but pretty much same as the old plan.

MT classic 2's painted black
km2's 35/12.5

cam, this pic you posted, the wheels i dont think are the classic locks. on the lock ring there is a lip, on regular classic locks their just flat

Yeah, BDSeff1fitty, thats my 40 above. Those rims are 15x10 Classic IIs which I had some alloy tabs welded on, and bolted on a beadlock ring....mainly for looks, but they have also served well for protecting the rims. As Cam pointed out, the rings are a pain in the arse in the mud, but the classics locks dont have as big a lip as the ones above do.

I also have a set of 15x10 Classic Locks too, which have some 33s on them for daily driving.

Pic with the rims above with a different ring, and 35x13.5 Krawlers. Wheels have the largest amount of backspacing I could get, and the Krawlers still rub in the back on the inner tubs. Was fine when i was running 35x12.5 TrXus MTs but.

On the classic locks and 33s.....Excuse my rear guards, they've just been cut dodgy at the moment. They'll all get neatened up when the rear bumper tube flares get done.

BDSeff1fitty,

Pictured is my 73 SOA sitting on 37 x 12.50 15 GoodYear MTR's on 15x10 MT classic ll's, with a Backspacing of 3.65 inchs.(stock 3.5) Overall tire dia. is about 36.5.
I have never had any issues with the tires rubbing at full flex. Some factors to consider, SOA on stock springs, front springs flipped, mini truck knuckles (slightly wider track width), trimmed front fenders (not required), trimmed rockers (not required), trimmed rear quarters (required). I have never had any issues popping a bead, at pressures as low as 6psi. A very noticeable advantage to running the 10 inch wide wheels for me was a stable highway ride, with 8inch wide wheels (same tires), the ride was bit scary. You will want to upgrade to a high steer set-up, Luke's, Allpro's, etc, the added weight of the wheel tire combo will become very noticeable.
Go 37's, you will never look back....
First Pic, 40 @ full stuff front
Second Pic, gives you an idea of how much I trimmed the rear.

twisty, i hate you, now silver is added into my list of colors, dammit! i thought i had a final plan but nope not any more! lol when you say the wheels you have are with the most amount of backspacing you could get were they custom? or just spacer? and how much did that custom lip cost you? what silver is that? on your 15x10 locks, im assuming you have 33/12.5's do they look all ballooned or look nice. would you recommend me going with 15x10's or 15x8's if i only plan to run a 12.5" wide tire. sorry for all the questions, it just look so clean and simple which is the look i am going for

CDfarmer, i have lukes steering in my bedroom right now. 37's look a little stuffed without being cut in the rear, so i guess ill stick with 35's and maybe eventually do a 2 1/2" lift springs instead of the stock leafs and larger tires, once i can regear.

i do no i am dead set on KM2's, hopefully am gonna get a order in tomorrow for wheels and tires from a smaller shop so i can save some money and get the best deal possible

BDSeff1fitty,

That site Balado National Tire - Serving Southern Florida since 1945 was way cheaper on KM2's by like 60.00 including shipping was about 140.00 so way cheaper..... You might check with them and they said they were not blemish tires

do you have to email them?

i have found them for $157 a piece. and im going to these smaller tire shops we have here in houston, that are more willing to sell cheap to make a few bucks. hopefully the guy can get the rims/tires for me, im hoping to stay under $1300 for 15x10 MT Locks and 35/12.5 KM2's mounted and balanced. if i decide 15x8's it should be more like $1200. i think the 10" wide will be better and gives me the ability to run much wider tires later on down the road if i decide to.

from what i think i have read i wont have any rubbing issues, i will probly trim my rear fenders just a tad anyways to make sure and i think it will give it a little nicer look

This is my cruiser. The first pic is prior to SOA on 2.5" OME springs with ginormous rear shackles from the PO. Those are 35's with no front work and the rear flare cutouts. I'm not sure what flares they are as they came on it. The second is SOA on the same springs with 38.5/16.5's. I get no rub, but it's also a little tall. Any shorter and it'll rub. I think I'd like to drop the springs about 3", move the rear axle back, and take more out of the rear and raise the front fenders. There are a lot of other things I also plan to change when time and $ permit. You'll also notice that there was a lot cut out of the body so it may look a little taller than it really is.

jetboy, that looks like it sits really tall, more than i think i want. and i don't have the money to go ahead and re-gear the axles unfortunately so 35's for now, once i get the rig back together depending on finances i hopefully can gear it pretty soon after and put air lockers from and rear

It is too tall. No question. That pic was right after the SOA so it's dropped some, but still too tall. Well, actually the tires are just too small... I went with 5.29's and I think they are about right. I'm not sure I'd go for axle gearing with 35's. If that's the goal the money would be better spent on an h41 or sm420 IMO.

Nah, both my 15x10 classic locks and 15x10 classic IIs have the most offset Mickey Thomson make the rim with (3-5/8" / -48mm)

Custom lip? Not sure what you mean?

Colour Silver, not sure, was already painted when I bought it. But it is a very close match to the missus's 05 Camry Sportivo, so is probably some kinda of toyota silver.

Yep, 33x12.5 MTZs, and they look fine on the 15x10s. I've always prefered 15x10 rims, even for 12.5" wide tyres. Make the tyres look fatter and more square, and I love the look of the deep dish. I've never lost a bead yet, and used to run about 12psi offroad. Have internals beadlocks with the krawlers now but, so can run lower pressures.

Quick note about the KM2's. A mate put them on his dual cab hilux in a metric equivalent of a 35x12.5/R16 on 16x10 rims. They looked really wierd. The tread width was really skinny, and the sidewalls balloned out. So not sure if the KM2s will look ok on the wider rims. My preferences for a mud terrain type tyres would be either MTZ or the Pro Comp Extremes.

i went back to the 2f, and the power i will gain back will be nice, but its not on the top of my list by any means. if it turns out i have pleanty power with 35's i wont do it until i have about everything done i want with it (its a REALLY long list)

yea i know what you mean by the bfg's tread width looking skinny. my 315/70/17's (35/12.5) on my truck the tread width is like 10.5-11" wide, i was pissed but o well live and learn. im gonna run by 4wp in the morning see if they have the km2's so i can just look at them and look at some other MT's while im there.

i was talking about your classic 2's and the custom artificial locks you had put on.
