cruisin, your rig looks really nice. how far did the flip in the rear move your rear axle? i have the tube fenders for the front, so im not worried about rubbing their just in the rear. wish i had some places that like around here to offroad, east texas does not have to many good options. who makes those beadlocks? i keep seeing rigs i like with black wheels and a lighter color, but i like red, but i dont know how the red will look when decked out with offroad gear. do you have a link to more pictures of your rig?

Flipping the rear springs moved the rear axle back something like 3". I was able to trim the rear fender keeping the stock profile, so it is hard to tell it is not stock.

Both these 37" Irock and my 38.5 SX's rub on the inside of the rear wheelwells, and can barely touch the front of the inner fender on full stuff. Neither rubbing is enough for me to notice while wheeling, or worry about.

There are some pics from the last year on these web albums. About the only change since then is a front spring flip.

i was talking about your classic 2's and the custom artificial locks you had put on.

Oh yep, pretty much free! Drew them up in autocad and got a mate to lasercut them out of mild steel. Another mate tigged the tabs onto the rims for me. All the stainless bolts cost a bit but.

One thing to watch if you get the classic locks, the ring on them is only alloy, and gets bent and ruined really easy if you wheeling in rocks etc. If you plan on that it might pay to just get classic IIs and run no fake beadlocks, or do something similar to mine with decent tabs, and a steel ring.

twisty, i saw OMF makes exactly what you have done, they charge like $250 for simulated locks or $180something for just the re-inforced wheels on the classic II's. if they would price match on the price of the MT classic 2's the price would be about the same as the locks for the re-inforced and i would do that, but i doubt since their customizing the wheel they would

Do you know any cheap laser cutters? and have any mates that can tig weld?

I can send you the autocad dwg file for the ring (and modify it to any design you want). Then just get the rings lasercut from somewhere over there, and someone to tig some tabs on. Might work out cheaper that way?

well i have a friend whose a welder, but he works from 5 to 5 6 days a week and his company won't let him use their welders for me. i could ask a shop tomorrow how much they would charge, but im sure they charge me an arm and a leg, wish i knew of a tiny shop who really needs work and would do it cheap

I Tried,

I just noticed your question to me and I tried to PM you but your box was full so here goes:

This is hard to explain but if you used a straight edge I basically removed 5" back...... But if you measured the bottom of my cut off piece it would measure 8" because of the curve... So lets just say 5"

I don't have the 37's yet but you can see it with 32 11.5 on my build thread

My rearend is flipped but again needs to come 1" back forward which will be a piece of cake. I have to take it back apart to set the pinion angle anyway.

I cleared my pm box and thanks for the info. I should have my lift next week and the rims painted. I decided to just paint my steel wagon wheels body color and put on some 35"mtr's for now and I my wife does not like it for parking lot driving I have a nice set of off road tires. I plan to flip the rear springs and install them for now an put the rear tires on to see how it looks. I have trimed 2" front the top and back so far.

Thanks for the info.

Tim

Great!
I only trimmed the front a little to remove the rolled lip so it would be uniform and as for yours the two should work great for now but once you flip the springs get ready to cut.......

If I cut to make it uniform front to back will the tires rub the back on full stuff? After I cut the 2" top and back I walked back from the truck and thought that is they way these should have looked from the factory. :meh:

Correct me here guys but I would think with 2" cut out of the rear IF YOU FLIP YOUR SPRINGS and with 35's at what I wouuld call full stuff YES you would rub...... If you don't flip your springs you would probably be fine assuming you have some lift. But then again I should ask how much lift you have??

ok so i am about to place the order and want yal to double check this for me

15x10 Mickey Thompson Classic Locks 6 on 5.5
35/12.50/15 BFG KM2's

4wp had the exact wheel tire combo already mounted in the store just wrong bolt pattern, they looked sick, so i think i chose a combo i will really like

they are gonna cost me $1470 shipped. all the local spots wanted $1700-1900. $1500 is a little more than i planned on spending but i dont want to have to buy wheels twice. going to try NTB tomorrow see if they will price match, they have a $100 off coupon for wheel/tire combo over a $1000 so maybe i can just get them locally a tad cheaper after taxes.

placed the order on wheels/tires. should be here next monday or tuesday the guy said. they were on national backorder and this is the only place that said they had them in stock and were the cheapest place anywhere

BigRed and CamCruiser, what axle shafts are you running?

do you have to email them?

i have found them for $157 a piece. and im going to these smaller tire shops we have here in houston, that are more willing to sell cheap to make a few bucks. hopefully the guy can get the rims/tires for me, im hoping to stay under $1300 for 15x10 MT Locks and 35/12.5 KM2's mounted and balanced. if i decide 15x8's it should be more like $1200. i think the 10" wide will be better and gives me the ability to run much wider tires later on down the road if i decide to.

from what i think i have read i wont have any rubbing issues, i will probly trim my rear fenders just a tad anyways to make sure and i think it will give it a little nicer look

Sorry about that I didnt see you asked me a question.... I know your done now but for anyone else searching and they find this in the future I am not sure why it gave that big fancy link.... I found the best deal by far at onlinetire.com

I will try to type it again:
Balado National Tire - Serving Southern Florida since 1945

EDIT - hmm. it kicks up that fancy name again

thought id show a photo of the wheels/tires they came in a little earlier today.

only complaint i have so far is they mounted the white letters in instead of out. forgot to specify when i ordered. if i can find a local shop to flip them cheap i am gonna get it done. if not, o well.

and for any one who is wandering i paid $1468 for them shipped to my door.

$157/tire
$165/wheel
$180 for shipping

for anyone wandering:

onlinetires has excellent service, i got atleast 2 or 3 emails after placing the order from the manager just updating me with the order, got free mount and balance, and once my wheels got in (only had 2 in stock) it shipped right out. Fed Ex picked it up on monday and i got them about 4 pm today

btw these tires are on national back order, went to about 5 or 6 local places and no where could get them any time soon for me.

4 wheel parts did price match + $10 but could not get them. called the online store from them and he said they got a shipment of 120 tires but were filling back orders but thought he could find a set for me if i would place the order right then.

All of the tires that I have purchased have been labeled "jeep side" on the side with white letters and "cool vehicle side" on the other. Maybe the new KM2s are different.
