2F is there.

Is there any reason this long block would not be a good choice for a 84 fj60 for a rebuild?
Should be the same long block assembly used in the early FJ60s, if the machine shop says it's suitable for a rebuild (i.e., no cracked block or cylinder head, etc.) it should work for an '84 FJ60.

Just got my info....what if it was a 77 2F. Would it work in a desmogged 60?
Yes. These motors are interchangeable. You will encounter decision time with regards to transmission which effects a few things, including location of the slave cylinder, lengths of driveshafts, stuff like that. But with regards to the motor itself, drops right in.

Your power steering pump won't mount to a 77 2F block though, and perhaps not the A/C bracket either. But with that block number should be an 81, where did the 77 come from?

I will trust in your knowledge. I would note that my '70 FJ40 F motor had the alternator mounted low on the left side. The '79 had it mounted high right. Since I had rewired the '70 and was transferring that harness to the '79, I kept the alternator mounted low left. Isn't that where a power steering pump would mount?

The FJ60 power steering pump is up high on the left side, where it conveniently leaks automatic transmission fluid down onto the smog pump, causing it to sieze.

VIN: FJ40-268131
Model: FJ40LV-KCJA
Engine: 2F 237997

I seem to have a discrepancy with my engine numbers

On the flat near the starter I find the following stamp--2F-456128
On the DS of the block between two plugs I finding a casting number of 11411 on top and 61013 below.
On the head i find the casting number 61031
What gives. The serial number indicates a later manufacturing date but 1986 can't be correct.....can it?

Different numbers = different purpose I believe. My ID is 2F 237997 and the #s between plugs are 11411 61011.

That is where I am confused. I thought the last 5 digits of the block casting number (61031) reflected the build date.
