Hello all, I recently been able to start my venezulean 1986 fj45 though with one problem, theres a loud knocking and screeching coming from the engine..
I think its rod knock but i dont know for sure.

I will summarize everything that has happened to the vehicle as of now:
october 2024: wiring harness shorted and melted
late may 2025: finished new harness, test drove the truck a few times, last test run truck over heated with a loud knocking due to a loose distibutor thus causing no oil pressure and engine locked up.
june: engine freed up and realigned distributor according to frm.
today: engine started for the first time since lock up with a loud knocking. engine did have oil pressure according to guages

everything that has been done to the truck before today (to our knowledge):
new starter
new oil filter
new fuel pump
new radiator
new coolant
new sparkplugs
new alternator
new sparkplug wires
new water pump thermostat & gaskets
new oil pressure sender
new water temp sender
new wiring harness

engine was most likely redone in 2019 and was driven less than 500 miles since then.
there is 250,000 miles on the engine

i will attach a link to the google drive with videos

what is happening to my engine??

By the description, no oil pressure, engine seized, and a load knock…I’m thinking it’s toast.

Sorry man, as soon as the distributer came loose….it drives the oil pump….you lost oil pressure, and probably didn’t see it…..then the wurst result….lost a rod bearing. 😢

Pull the engine. Take it apart. Maybe only bearing were toasted but my guess the bores, cams.... are gone too. Maybe do a compression test first dry then wet. Leak down test if you have the tools. Got the oil in it from failure, send it off for testing. Cut open a used oil filter.
Oil pressure is too important not to have a direct read gauge IMHO.

I dont have any of the proper tools… I will probably have a mechanic do all of this…
