Did you see you got a good mention in the June edition of Australian Street Rodding?
Used you as an example of what could be done with a 2F engine and not to write off the straight 6 as a good donk for a Hotrod.

Hey Pappy, lets have our first annual 3FE40 Bash in Oz during the month of July. It's hot here in Texas this week 100+, Your truck will be running next summer, how much do you think it would cost us in gas to drive to Matt?:lol:

It's been high 80's to low 90's (F) here, but a month ago on June 11th I had about that much snow on my cruisers, and it is so called summer here.

So the intercooler was cooling the airload too much in the cooler temps. I always wondered about that in cold temps. I ran an open air filter on my 40 with a Holley carb for years, had headers too, so that made the problem worse, but getting it to run in cold weather was a fight. I'm rigged up more for cold weather running than hot weather. For about three months a year, my fuel system is too hot, but the rest of the year it does quite well.

The ECU works fine at the low temps, just the actual cold start set up that needs adjusting. You really need a week of temps like that to set it up properly as you only get one true attempt at a cold start per day. If i was living in the area and climate it would be all to easy to set up and start first time every time, but for the once or maybe twice a year, I will have to live with cranking it a few times until I get the throttle just right :D

Not to hard to do, just a couple of short ferry rides, one form Alaska to Russia and then from Singapore to Darwin. The rest is easy its a 40 hmmm road trip.

I actually want to go from Melbourne to Darwin ferry/shipped to Singapore and the drive to the UK. Just need some Discovery Channel film crew to finance it.
:hhmm: Pity my Name is not Ewan McGregor <---LInk :D

They also dispelled the myth that the old Chev 6 was a direct relation to the 2F. Some had said you could fit a 2F head to the Chev but they did a comparison and there was no way. None of the head bolts lined up and even the bore spacing was different.

It arrived today, Tks Gojeep for the heads up much appreciated.

Seems strage appearing in a Hot Rod Mag but

I believe it's now official turds can be polished :flipoff2:

I think they needed to go back a bit further and even then I doubt the two engines would have maintained that much compatibility. Anyway link is to a new post I made with some photos of early I6 Chevy and Toyota engines.

Daz aka BJ spent a few min sitting on the ground when we got back while he got his breath and senses back :D

Have to admit I was :grinpimp: too, it's the most I have wound it up to yet and the RallyArt Lancer we passed, would love to have seen the look on his face :flipoff2:

Though not as good as the one on the Porsche Cayenne drivers face as he tried to take me up the inside onto the freeway on the way home :hillbilly: Sucker.

Ha - was going to call BS when I read Porsche Cayenne - though to were going to say you had seen one off road. :p Saw a Cayenne get stuck in a boggy carpark not long after they came out, 2WD cars were driving around it.

Funny Top Gear tonight, only saw the end but Clarkson was trashing a Daihatsu Terios through "green lanes" chased by a fox hunt with hounds. Terios was painted like a fox. Don't know if they messed with the continuity (sure they must have) because the damm thing got out of mud holes that would have held most 4x4's, Daihatsu must have paid them...... opps it's the BBC that couldn't happen :hhmm:.

mmmmm got to love the Terios's high driving position :lol:

Well after a weekend away helping at the ATECO (Round 3 of the Engel Challenge) I had a chance to play quite a bit in low range.

1st is now insane down hill only
2nd extream hill climbs and steep down hill
3rd steep to moderate hill climbs and moderate down hill flat twisty tracks
4th hmmmm I only made 4th once scary after hitting the rev limiter in 3rd
5th not tried.

The huge torque means that 80% of the driving can be done in 3rd low, I could not be happier with the build the engine in low is smooth and tractable, bring on round 4 of the Engel time for testing in battle.

Not full noise just having a little fun testing :steer:

Was moving the truck last week, only had a little squirt in first and second gear just down the road to turn around and FARK that think pulls!!!!!!!!!

Here's hoping that i get the week off for round 4, as i don't want to miss it's first outing at comp!!!

Well it seems the intercoolers are taking off.

5 kits sold all ready and more on order, strange how life takes a turn sometimes, I spent a small fortune building the engine, now the spin off is looking like a small business but time will tell at worst it will pay for the beer :D

Well 1st casualty of the 2F-ETI was the rear main, have to say a little disapointed to find the one removed was not genuine  the new one is. Have also removed the PCV line from the intake manifold as at full boost the crank case pressure has to get above 9psi to vent, it now runs to a catch can. The combination of the 2 caused a minor oil leak.

Also switching to Penrite oil SIN 25

But on the whole the clutch is holding up well and no other issues as yet.

You were boosting your PCV line??? lol
Take the line and run it upstream of the turbo. That way you will still have a neg crankcase pressure.

Wait, where is your brake booster lead going???
