all jokes aside.... the 70 series section used to have about 20 posts a week. -- there was little activity, mainly I would associate with the inability to get into the US. Now the site is very active and every day more users, more buyers, more imported, and more builds are happening. Personally, I am dropping an LS in a 73 series -- and I don't know of another one out there that has done it. I converted a carb'd 1fz to a fuel injected 1fz in a 75 series and documented it well here. There are so many people doing crazy things (this thread is one of them) and being the groundbreakers..... yes today they won't get the credit they deserve, but 10 years ago the 80 section was the same way. I recall referring to 10 year old toolsrus threads in the 80 series section and quoting them as gospel.... that is what this thread will be someday down the road.
Itās funny to think of @wngrog as a lurker.I have been lurking in this section since I was able to work on Kaderabekās HZJ73 and I am pretty disappointed in the quality of 70 series builds. This section reminds me of he Suzuki guys back in the Pirate4x4 days.
I donāt think this build will get 10% of the appreciation it deserves because it seems like the bar is pretty low for 70 builds.
Holy Jesus you are assembling a SECOND FTE???
How did I miss this one?
You and @SNLC are quite the team. Your willingness to build and @SNLC (and team) ability to build such awesome stuff is remarkable. The knowledge gained for forum members is priceless.Itās funny to think of @wngrog as a lurker.
I donāt care about getting any appreciation on the truck. Any appreciation should be given to @SNLC for his work on the truck. I just like the thread so I can look back and see what was done and when it was done. Kind of a virtual maintenance history.
I have drilled down into a final concept for the finished truck. In the mood for something a little less overland and a little more practical. Most likely will run some model of 255/85/16 tires on some factory Toyota rims plus stock flares. No snorkel. Factory Toyota bull bar and that is about it. Other than a few odds and ends, @SNLC either has or we have ordered all the necessary parts for completion. This will be a substantially less complex project than the FTE 80 series.
I used the same in my 75. Best butyl mat on the market. I painted spectrum sludge over the mat and will eventually paint with tinted Raptor. Too hard to do the Raptor until I get it back to the US.This is Second Skin audio.
So the bar is pretty low for 70 builds. Good to know.I donāt think this build will get 10% of the appreciation it deserves because it seems like the bar is pretty low for 70 builds.

Agree. There was quite a bit leftover from my 80 series. It worked so well on that truck that I figured it would be good to use it on this truck as well.I used the same in my 75. Maybe we just need a few pints of fluid film to up our game? Here in the 70 section, we might as well be playing with legos.
The tech bar here is super low save for some buildsā¦. Like your own, for example.
