Got the maintenance reminder on my wife’s Lexus for oil change, sounded like it was making lifter noise, checked oil and it was nearly off the dipstick, no leaks or spots in driveway, does not smoke… and no low oil warning light, does thenLX570 have a low oil light? where did the oil go? Does the 5.7 really use that much oil? 5500 miles since last oil change 109k miles on the truck, I searched in the forum and on the webs and found a couple threads about PCV valve…. Any thoughts appreciated…

The 570 does have a low oil light.

It's probably the 'cam tower leak'. Search for that. It's visible through the wheel well, and hits the exhaust, so you wouldn't have spots in your driveway / garage.

One simple explanation would be an incorrect fill at the last change. Did you do the work and if not, did you check after it was done? Wouldn’t be the first time not enough oil was added. Losing that much oil in 5500 miles on a well maintained 5.7 is almost unheard of.

Swap to 5W30. All my “consumption” went away. My thought is the EPA encouraged 0W crap vaporizes during normal combustion/engine operation.

5W30 is recommended for the 3UR everywhere else in the world.

A lot of times oil consumption and slight smoking is due to the PCV valve. Happens quite often on these 5.7L engines. Very easy to replace the PCV valve. Here's a quick video I did the last time I replaced one:

Yes pcv valve. We were eating oil in our 2013 LX200. You will get a low oil notification/chime on your cluster display.

I know, it's just what the AutoNation dealership put in there as a new battery before I purchased the vehicle. Will be replacing it later this year as it comes time for a new battery. Likely will replace it with a Duracell AGM battery from SamsClub. Have had great luck with those for the last 6-7 years on a variety of cars and boats. And they're usually unbeatable when it comes to price.
