I know my LX is getting long in the years and issues with yellowing in the headlight lens is to be expected but recently started to have moisture in the assembly that never seems to dry out. what's worse. the LED DRL has stopped working in that assembly. I am thinking it may be time to replace the whole assembly but that is a pretty pricey proposition. Looking online, i see a number of "aftermarket" headlight assemblies but a number of them say something like "w/O AFS Model". This of course has me worried that it may not work as a replacement. I've also seen folks in this forum warn that aftermarket assemblies are garbage too. So, with all of that, does anyone have suggestions on what to do? the OEM assembly is like 1800.00 and I'd like to avoid going that route.

As someone who has been building custom headlights for around 9 years, across a wide range of customer vehicles, stay away from aftermarket housings for any vehicle thats factory HID. The internals are almost always garbage and its fairly common that led drl colors wont match a factory one due to cheap led chips that are out of spec. It's a tough pill to swallow though.
Other option, you could have someone replace the lenses, and swap out the drl led chips and then do a proper reseal. It would be cheaper to do that for both sides than to buy one factory headlight, plus it gives you options for paint work or other modifications while the headlights are open. Only downside is your rig would be down a couple weeks to ship headlights out for the work to be done.

I can, been messing with quite a few LCs lately, have an extra set of 13-15 waiting to be built so I javent modeled up the drl replacements just yet but similar idea to the LCs. You could choose from white or amber if you had them replaced.

whats the down time and what do you charge?
Ill need to get my extra set open to properly gauge that first. Sometimes I need to design and print an adapter to hold the led chips and sometimes I dont. Shoot me a DM so I dont lose ya but ill get you more info when I get my 13-15s opened up.
