It's the same engine as the 4.0L 1GR-FE Tacomas/4Runner/FJC.
Even the fan clutch is the same pink color.
Great rig. I saw a number of GCC rigs when i was at the LC factory 2 years ago in Japan.
What head unit is that? The GPS interface looks like the one on my old Eclipse unit.

I believe its a Koolertron unit, used on the VW's. The installer told me they're available on the Corollas, but I cant seem to verify that, nor trust his input
It does have the wiring capabilities for installing a rear camera, and the ipod dock is also plugged in through the glove box, but I prefer running the ipod through the Aux socket as navigating my song list on the ipod is easier than on the head unit touch screen.
It is certainly a major upgrade from the factory unit, which only accepted cassette tapes

Wasn't 2009 the last year for the 1FZ-FE in the Land cruiser range? I am looking in Saudi for a SWB Rub3 (code word for swb 70 series). I like that engine more.

Thats correct. It could be that the last build dates for the 1FZ was late 2008 beginging 2009.
You can find plenty of them (1FZ 71) here. A lot of second hand car dealers bought them new and kept them in their inventory as new cars. Believe it or not they sell for a higher price than buying a brand new GRJ71 from the dealer. Our market has got a strange mentality as people still believe the FZ is a better motor than the GRJ, and hence used dealers/used car sellers are commanding better prices for the FZ's.

Cassette tape in a factory stereo in a 2010 model? Wow. Even Apple have removed the DVD/CD drive from their MacBook Pros already.

I would imagine since these trucks were built to be put to use in countries/mines where sealed roads are non existent, a CD player would be rendered useless. They would just skip to death from the corrugations in the African bush!
Having said that, the GCC trucks are now coming with CD and mp3 players, and some nasty arse fake wooden trim on the dash. Horrendous if you ask me.

I'll need to run by the accessories shop that did the light install to check if it's H4.
Re the VDJ76, it will be a cold day in hell before they make them for us LHD punters. Besides, diesel fuel in Saudi is ripe with sulphur, so I can't see that engine surviving long here. Injectors will seize pretty quickly, and I've read how much they cost to replace Down Under.....no thanks!
Give me a 1HZ any day for touring the ME and Africa, that thang is a tank

A quick update on a couple of things done.
I had decided to upgrade to 315/75/16 BFG AT's, up from the current 285's I had. With the lift I have the 315's cleared no problem. The only issue was with the spare tire fitting in its existing location, as it hits the rear bumper and thus is not able to be mounted on the spare tire bracket.
Two options to rectify this were to move the tire bracket 2" up and about 1.5" to the right (so that the left barn door can swing open without hitting the tire). The other option is to go with a spacer. I didnt fancy drilling new holes into the body work, so went with the spacer option. The downside to the spacer is the left side barn door might not clear.
Had the 2" aluminum spacer made locally.
