I’m unlikely to drop the $ for portals but if I did I’d try to keep the KDSS

I would think it would be a priority for most people, seeing as everybody loves kdss and (to a lesser extent) AHC. But I can't even imagine the numbers--seems as much as we drool over portals, only very few would actually put up the money to install them.

I might get portals in a few years (making my LX an offroad-dominant vehicle). If I did, I'd prefer to keep the AHC, unless it's not practical.

I would like some kind of sway bar whether KDSS or standard LX but IIRC, retrofitting the LX sway-bars to an LC200 doesn't seem like simple bolt-on affair.

Hey guys,I worked here at 74Weld, and this is true.

This is actually want I came here to ask you guys, just out of curiosity. How many of you would maintain KDSS and stock suspension, and for LX owners the AHC. Really just out of curiosity here, I'm excited to see people maintain those systems while running 37-40s because I think thats rad, but I'm curious if thats a priority for people.
Maintaining LX AHC is a goal for me as long as I can.

Thats cool to hear from everyone. Most of the Toyota platforms we sell portals to delete KDSS and height control, but I figured it would be different on the 200 series chassis. I nerded out see Ben from Dissent use the AHC on 37's on his LX700H, I want to see more of that

I wouldn’t run stock LC suspension, but I would definitely run AHC.

Been rocking 37s and AHC for 3 years now without issue. Only thing that would make me switch it would be SASing the front

I wonder if it would be possible to do a SAS and keep AHC. By using rear AHC components on the front.

I’ve thought about that but worried that there wasn’t sufficient travel out of them to make it work

Hmmm....just spitballing with not too much critical thinking involved because I ate a big lunch and am too tired and lazy right now to do so, but I wonder if an SAS hybrid system that left the suspension travel conventional which would allow for easy long travel swaps, but keep the height adjustment only part of AHC.

What do you mean? You have the Werewolf portals right? Are you still utilizing the AHC on your Lexus?
Yes I am. And yes I would still run it, and I think it would be good, but I decided it was time for an offroad specific suspension. I think AHC is the most versatile suspension on the market, and it literally does everything well, but I’m at the point where I want my suspension to do excellent off-road - not just good enough. I’m going to be doing some difficult trails. I also want more articulation and travel.

Having to delete AHC would be a deal breaker for me. I would like to keep AHC at all costs.

I’m pretty close to Stellarbuilt and am willing to offer up my 21’ LX for R&D if needed.

You can keep AHC with either Werewolf or 74 Weld. Ben from Dissent is running 74s on his LX 700h with AHC no issues. Werewolf wouldn’t have any issues either.

From my understanding you’ll need to convert to 6 lug.

This is true--I saw a sneaky comment on a Dissent post about the 200 series being under development about a month ago and I had previously discussed with Quinn the 6-lug likelihood

I put my 6-lug wheels on order a month ago--downside is brand new model and first production run not slated until November with a late December/early Jan delivery. Even if the portals are out next week this is at best a winter project now

I think switching to 6 lug is a huge plus with the portals. Way more wheel/beadlock options with the 6 lug. I’m preparing for the full package to cost closer to $30k with portals, wheels, tires, brake upgrade, and labor.

I'm with you on that; there are not a ton of attractive 5 lug wheels with high offset. It sucks for the added cost, but the options that are out there are so good. So much availability for the 250/300 that will now work. Truthfully too I have a hard time justifying switching from beautiful factory forged BBS to something cheap and cast just because it fits. I want nice wheels as well and for a long time I thought the only solution for 5 lugs were a set of custom Braid's.

Overall cost will greatly depend on wheel/tire setup--I'm estimating that will be $6-10k depending on specific choices. I'm curious if 74Weld is going to include brakes like they used to do with the Tacoma kits; my gut is leaning yes given the necessity of switching to a different lug pattern and I know they've been focusing some on all inclusive packages lately. I personally think $30k will end up being on the extreme low end and $35k being about average if including labor too
