Good choice, Matt! BTW, where were you driving (so that I know to avoid it!)

We were on the Leavenworth Creek / Argentine Pass road, and the ice got really thick and slick right at 11k feet. There's a small creek drainage area across the trail there, and it just wasn't worth the risk. I parked and hiked it, and there were zero tire tracks at that point. It appears there was a snowmobile that came through relatively recently, and there were also lots of paw, hoove and bunny prints. The snow wasn't really deep until the last half mile, but the ice was the deal breaker since it was also slightly uphill, a little off camber, and then had a bit of a drop on one side.

And on the way back down. I had the Ridge Grapplers aired down to about 14 psi, and they did fantastic in the snow. I honestly barely felt it slip ever even through some decently deep patches.

Here are a couple pics my dad snapped on his phone. He didn't admit he was a little scared until we were eating dinner tonight ;)

Thanks. Glazed over ice like that can be a challenge on flat roads never mind that you were on a trail with a steep drop off. And you were alone so if something had happened, even minor, it could have been a big problem. ;-)

Daily Driver Update:

So the local method dealer contacted me and gave me a kick ass deal on the new 701 wheels. I chose to go with the black mate and decided to pair them with yokohama geolanders (265/70/17) didn't want a big tire. I was surprised at how light these new wheels are!, much much lighter then the steel wheels I have had before and also lighter then the stock 18 inch. With the yokohama 265s its a very light combo. (Unsprung weight is not an issue anymore).

I went with the yokohama tires since the tread pattern was not as aggressive as the bf ko2s since I was not planning on offroading this thing anywhere else then soft sand. and also mainly because it is a daily driver and the lighter tread pattern is much more road friendly. The tire is also much softer when compared too the KO2s, less puncture resistance but better ride quality on washboard which was my goal. I digress, but this combo turned out very well. Im really happy with the current setup and with the "cadilac" valving on the kings its very enjoyable to drive around the city, in love with the new valving very plush.

My brother needed to replace the stock wheels on his 18 lx so he decided to take my old wheels and tires. He gutted his hydraulics and installed radflos, tried to convince him to go with KINGS! but he didn't listen. He ended up taking the radflos from the backyard. I guess wise choice since he doesn't really care about achieving the 100% best ride ever, his not a ride quality maniac like me. Plus the radflos were just sitting there unused.

You guys need a token American friend to hang out with?

Having looked through every page, post & photo in this thread over the last month, I'd like to request a cleanup crew to mop up all of the accumulated drool.

I did the same when I got my my 570!

It was fun to go back in time and see some of the great rigs you see today start out as humble, stock dailies.

We din’t Need no stinkin rest stops! ;)

Can’t text and drive in most states...but as far as I know, this kind of multitasking is OK...
