I contacted BudBuilt this past weekend about cost and scheduling to have them install sliders and have yet to hear from them. I guess I’ll call them if I don’t hear back soon. I’m hoping to turn it into a nice sight seeing trip late in the summer (given the production lead times) with a day or 2 planned for them to do the install, but some decent communication from their end will be needed so I can schedule time off from work and plan lodging for the trip.
There's a super nice Airbnb right in town when I was there, very nice young couple, beautiful home. I can look up the name of you want.

If you don’t mind, I’d appreciate it as it’s always good to have options available. It also looks like there’s a Hampton Inn near them too and we’ve always had good experiences with them.

I’m sure I could install these and could recruit some helpers, but I’m really itching to go on a trip after the past year plus, so this seems like the perfect excuse to build a trip around.

Found it:

It's actually in Granite Falls, just down the road. There's a GREAT quaint coffee shop in the center of town too.

Try to drive some of the Blue Ridge Parkway on the way down. Very scenic. Unfortunately it was pouring rain and heavy clouds when I was going through. It can get pretty slow though, with RV traffic.

I called Bud Built yesterday to order rear shock armour and step sliders. Their book keeper Linda is out and Rob is out for 2-3 months. They are swamped and down a few people. I dont plan to get my parts for at least 3 months. Apparently they are having issues with getting materials, getting packaging, and the powder coating people. Just FYI for some communication.

Awesome - thanks! That place is definitely worth considering if I do the trip alone, but won't work if my dad tags along.

Yeah, the Blue Ridge Parkway is really nice. We did the entire Blue Ridge Parkway, Skyline Drive, Mt Mitchell, etc. back in 2008 (with my LX470 IIRC). We had great weather on that trip. We did part of the Blue Ridge Parkway on another trip, but the sky was much hazier; still worth seeing, but a bit of a letdown by comparison and we decided to move on and do something else since we had previously seen it with nice clear sky.

Thanks for the report. That probably explains why they haven't responded to my email. Perhaps it makes sense to wait on this particular change until next year when things have settled down more. When I go, I'd like to do it in (hopefully) nice weather and make a vacation out of it. I'd also like to avoid dealing with supply chain issues, potentially rushed or bad powder coating, etc.

I suppose I could also consider other slider options. Being 100% honest, the BudBuilt sliders are major overkill for what I plan to do with the Land Cruiser. But since their pricing seems to be similar to other options, I figured it made sense to go with them anyway. Whatever I go with in the end is going to be an option that doesn't require drilling holes, installing rivnuts, etc. as I just don't want to deal with that and BudBuild seems to have proven that there's no need for it. There's also the issue of rivnuts twisting when you go to remove bolts in the future.

Correct me if i am wrong, but i thought BudBuilt REQUIRES at least 1 rivnut per side??? When i was researching them and planning on buying them, it was in their instructions. They even sell the hardware for the rivnut install.

@Madtiger No rivnuts whatsoever and no drilling on the Budbuilt sliders (I’ve installed two sets). They are 100% bolt on. Is it possible that you may be thinking of Slee?

So besides BudBuilt and ARB, are there any other bolt-on sliders without need of drilling and/or rivnut?

MetalTech? @bloc

Had to drill and rivnut some fasteners on my MTs due to the lower bolts being on the bottom of the frame rail in shear (which I consider a good thing. though yes the drilling was a pain.)

Slide down a hill into a rock? Have to drag vehicle off of said rock to get out?

.... That's just some scuffed paint.

Are installation instructions available for the Dissent sliders? Any drilling or rivnuts needed?

The installation instruction found here. Dissent LC200 installation steps. It's mix use of rivnuts and existing factory threads.
Thanks - looks like a lot of rivnuts.

Rob from BudBuilt got back to me a little while ago and the installation cost is actually pretty reasonable and it sounds like they‘re pretty flexible on scheduling.

I have some of the same scratches on my WKs. Sliders 1, garage frame 0. Stupid 100 year old 7' wide garage doors...

For those with the Metal Tech sliders, how many Rivnuts are used in total? The parts list shows 14 included but I only see two used on the drivers side in the installation instructions and I assume the same for the passenger side?! It mentions the possibility of needing to use more for the front feet but it's funny that there'd be such a diversity amongst these trucks. If the remaining 12 rivnuts are needed for the front and/or passenger side their installation instructions are extremely lacking, it'd be nice to see installation pics and details for those as well.

I have the LX570 and it required 6 Rivnuts per side to install the Metal-tech 4x4 sliders
