After reviewing numerous options, I decided on Metal Techs, especially since I ran them in my 100 series many years ago and for many years. These are the first custom angled sliders made by Metal Tech for 2016+! The installation of the 200 version is more complicated than that of the 100 series, but are still 100% bolt-on. Weight comes in at approximately 77.8 lbs each. They are heavy-duty! I appreciate the protection I now have on the sides, which was an important factor. We took our first road trip this past weekend to the beach, and as you know, sliders make it so much easier to get to the roof rack. This is an important feature for me since we travel often and always use the roof rack. These also have a scratchy finish, which helps with grip. My 2020 Heritage Edition did not come with any type of side steps, which was a pain, but more importantly, an opportunity. Note - I am not a rock climber, so this is a non-issue to me, but because these are bolted onto the frame and are heavy-duty, they should provide great protection for that application.

I am very happy with the result and highly recommend!

Special thanks to Mark Hawley, founding owner of Metal Tech, for working with me throughout this process with changes to the final product. It was well worth the several-month wait!

Just to pile on.. I have had these on my 2013 for 7 years now and I’m super happy with them.

So they bolt on like the Bud Builts? Have to negotiate all the driver side KDSS lines?

I'd suggest consulting the install documents for specifics. I haven't seen budbuilt in person but my understanding is they wrap around the frame completely. The MT setup bolts onto the outside and lower face of the frame rail, with the lower bolts being in shear when you push up on the rails. It is a strong setup for incidental and a bit more impact but I'd put budbuilt higher up in the totally bombproof category.

There's some small movement of the KDSS lines to get a couple of the bolts in but nothing extreme.

"with changes to the final product"

What changes did you make? I'm set on getting these for my '16, but just need a couple pennies more in the piggy bank.

Mine were the old design with the nut-serts and they were indeed challenging to get installed with the dual-wall frame. Ultimately it worked though.

This new system seems even better.
