Hey guys, I was fortunate enough to purchase this 1997 FZJ75 Pickup recently. It's a GCC spec, and in pretty good shape. Just planning on a mild build, so nothing too fancy. Just going to get it baselined and upgrade a few things to make it a little more comfortable to drive. Here are a few pics....

According to Google translate this means "Toyota oil for Toyota cars"... So, hopefully that is correct!

Got some of the baselining done. Nothing exciting here, but I thought I would list all the part numbers I used to hopefully help out others that may need them. Changed the oil, belts and the alternator idler pulley.

Oil Filter 90915-40002
Alt. V-Belts (2) 90916-02353-83
A/C V-Belt 99332-10910-83
Alt. Idler Pulley 16603-66010

Added some hood bumpers and the sweet hood strut kit from C2D @c2dfj45. Easy to install and works perfect. The hood on these trucks are fairly heavy, so it's a great upgrade.

I love part numbers and I love this truck. Looking forward to your build!!!

Yes, one of the best upgrades I've made to any of my Cruisers. Instructions are great too. I used the "towel around a piece of wood" method after marking the hinges and it worked perfectly. Highly recommend these to anyone that's considering them. The only thing I had to do other than just bolt them in, was to trim the seam sealer around the bolt hole on the fender bracket. But that was a 2 minute job.

I love the part numbers too: 53382-60011 😃

Since we are always looking for ways to spend $$$ I thought I would look it up, as mine are intact, but old and hard…
  • Magazip $12.39 USD
  • Capo Valley Toyota (in US) $18.42 USD
  • Top Toyota Parts (in Canada) $37.21 CAD or $26.79 USD
I think I’ll put two in my next megazip order. With conversion and duty and taxes it will be about $21 CAD each for the satisfaction.

I did the hood clip a while ago: 53455-14020 - Clamp, Hood Support Rod. Very satisfying upgrade from the broken one I had. You should put a new one in to ensure the now useless hood support rod stays in place!

Glad you liked the instructions(and the product of course) :) Instructions are harder to write than one would think. I remember we were asked by a company we did a lot of installs for to write some instructions for them. After about a day of one of my techs writing and writing, I said no more of that.

Seam sealer is a funny thing on some of these trucks. We sell a lot of these for 60 series trucks and some have a TON of it on them, some have very little. Haven’t heard of any on the 70s being trimmed. Interesting. Maybe another revision will be done :)

Ha, you're exactly right! Like most of us, I'm always looking for new ways of spending $$$ on my Cruisers. A lot of times on random stuff I don't really need....😜 So I'll keep posting part numbers to feed your all's habits!

Guess I'm not really surprised since this truck came from Saudi Arabia, but I was going to swap in a new thermostat and it didn't have one. Since the climate is a little cooler in East TN, I went ahead and installed one.

Great looking 75! Thanks for sharing.

$8.60 at Tosshin. Anyone try them recently? Just placed my first, small order as it was a few bucks cheaper and wanted to try them out. Shipping is weird. They confirm the part then send a second invoice for shipping. But the shipping quote was reasonable and still less overall than MZ/AMayama.

FYI, I paid $ 9.96 each for the hood bumpers at Partsouq

I’ve not seen Tosshin. It’s ¥1,327 or a little less then $12 CAD. I’ll keep them in mind.

I haven’t tried Partsouq or Amayama yet. They are usually a little less then Megazip. Megazip has 10%, 15% and 20% off deals all the time, so it makes it better. Often covers the cost of shipping.

So I had a terrible squeal when I turned on the A/C. Replaced the belt and A/C idler pulley.

A/C Idler Pulley P/N 88440-26090
A/C V-Belt P/N 99332-10910-83

That took care of the squeal, but there was still a loud bearing noise coming from the compressor. I was able to unbolt the compressor from the bracket and position it to remove the front part of the clutch and pulley without removing the refrigerant lines. Removing the snap ring was a little tricky, but not too bad.

The pulley bearing was definitely toast, so I got a new one. Went to a buddy's shop and had him press the old bearing out and the new one in. Although you could probably use a large socket or brass drift to get it out.

I used this bearing:
Santech MT2027
52mm O.D
30mm I.D.
22mm Thick

Replaced the distributor cap, rotor, plugs and plug wires.

Rotor: P/N 19104-66010
Plugs: P/N 90919-01176
Plug Wires: P/N 90919-21547
