Must say that I admire your will to make it right :)
I spent way too many hours rewiring my BJ42 but it has only 1/5 the amount of wires.
Hope that it will turn out good, it will be pretty exciting to turn the key for the first time ;)

Thank you for the motivation.

I intend to cut down on the wiring too...the harness contains things I dont need...defogger. ..AT and related sensors...heater...etc

So..will end up with a BJ in HDj clothing. ...loooool

Nice!.......Like finding money in the dryer.

will these hold enough current for me to test my connections before soldering/crimping everything together???

i want to do a quick test with everything major installed:
1- lights
2- headlights
3- alternator
4- combination meter
5- interior lights

i intent to do a 2 hour "all on" test.....something to test how my new wires/relays and fuses are handling.

That should carry enough current as long as it is a snug fit.

thank you very much...and its only temporary until i get my wire lengths right and finalize the connections.

great help as usual.....thanx again

fuel sender gauge

went to check the fuel sender wires under the rear seat....opened the cover and....as expected.....dirt, dirt and more dirt.....and a 'bandaged' connector:bang:

I must have lost my mind and not posted for you for 10 DAYS! I posted on other threads, but not yours. Please don't feel slighted by me paying attention to others as well... I thought only my wife was like that! That's why I like my LC! I can look at other LC's and LX's and it doesn't get jealous!

I'll try to do better!!!!! ;)

Door ground wires: The window motors are not grounded back to the door only because the doors do not have a good, clean permanent ground. It MAY ground if all conditions are right through the hinges and latches, but you cannot count on that. I would take a ground all the way from the motor all the way to the switch. That will allow the most clean current flow and one you can count on. My windows run VERY slow and I believe it is partly because I have bad grounding through the switches. That's something I still need to chase. (I hate chasing electrons....)

Fuel pump: Odds are that the black wire is a ground for the fuel pump. It needs to have its own separate ground because it will not ground through the tank body and it helps reduce explosion hazards. Check the EWD.

Another reason Mr. T placed a ground with every electrical component is to reduce radio noise and to not "back-feed" through the grounds. (OK electrical guys....bag on me for this 'cause I may not be right.....)

My God! I am amazed at the levels you are going to on this truck! I hardly have the energy and time to change the OIL!

Keep up the great work!

looooooooooool....hilarious....

i was hoping u would just have said...i was out wheeling or something....looool

door switches...i sort of figured that out....the doors would cause an issue, so im grounding at the column behind the driver/front passenger seats (seat belt bolts)..

i thought so too about the fuel sender (not pump_mine is mechanical)...but just wanted additional confirmation....dont want to redo anything once i close things up.

tomorrow im going in with brush and sponge and cleaning every corner, then installing the wiring.....a couple of hours testing and then the insulator and carpet go back in.....

will probably be able to have it road worthy by saturday...insha Allah (God willing) .and then wait for next month's salary to finish the interior (roof lining and center console).

also managed to burn my sun roof motor...idiotically linking BOTH wires to the battery...forgetting it grounds by the body :bang: .... need to visit junkyard/ industrial area tomorrow to find a look alike or something.

great advice ....and regards to the wife :D

btw...anyone interested in ANYTHING i take out of the cruiser, i will have a complete list and will try to find someone here willing to carry them to the US with their luggage.....free of charge....no promises, as some people travelling might be carrying other things....but i will keep things cleaned and packed, ready when needed. currently i can confirm:
1- rear heater blower - fully working
2- Power steering ECU
3- another ECU (which i have no idea about...posted in one of my earlier posts)
4- variety of connectors and terminals
5- combination meter AT thingy in the middle
we'll see what else comes out....

Also....if any mudder is doing a pass through Sudan....i offer u 3 days accommodation and a full tank (gasoline or diesel)...just for passing by as a fellow mudder...again...no charge at all....just bring me a sticker or something to remember u by. :D...just remember to respect our culture and religion please.

and depending on my work schedule.....if im free and have enough in my budget...i will take u all the way to which ever border u are heading to....Egypt or Ethiopia.... and help u with whatever paperwork u need...and believe me...we have PLENTY here.

If my travels ever take to the Khartoum area I will take you up on that offer! I f you ever find yourself in the Houston area the offer is returned to you.

BTW... CONGRATS on the lockers! Now to check if they work... Roadworthy by Saturday: that would be fantastic!

And thanks for the correction on the sender info. I forgot you are running diesel. Either way, you understood what I meant. Listen to what I mean, not what I say...

Good Luck!
