What would the ideal PSI for the cylinders be??? I feel like this is super noob question

I will let Mr. T. answer that question. Also note the comment below about adding oil to the cylinder ... they echo a previous post. Seriously, I would use the cost of an engine rebuild in your negotiations. At a minimum the quote you received for the valve job work.

Remember that the OP is in Durango, CO. Subtract 3%/1000' elevation for the compression values.

At 7000' where I live, 120 psi would be very good compression on a 2F. I think my 3F-E (with 254K miles) is around 135 psi.

we all started with little knowledge, Rebuilds with some massaging you get #'s in the 160psi, new would have been around 150, under 110 needs attention.

when I look at rigs like this, I figure worse case scenario. motor replacement or rebuild.

Well, I ended up buying it last night!!!! I am super excited to learn all about it and can assume I will be on this forum again sooner or later when the thing breaks down. Thanks for all the help and advice and plan to fix the engine as soon as possible!
