It is all just mockup. Nobody wants to lay under a truck and weld things out and there is no reason to. Once mockup is all done the body comes off for final welding and any little details that need to be added will be at that time.

We have our radiator configured as far as dimensions. There is just absolutely no way to fit an intercooler anything up front even if we go electric fans which we don’t want or plan to use those.

Intercooler is a W/A which bolts on the intake manifold but for the actual radiator for the system we are going to have to get creative.

Cheers

Other side welded. Good clean and uniform look now.

There is a mud member that recently installed a 6BT into a 40. He used an intercooler that appeared to be free standing about level with the top tank of the radiator. He has pictures of it in this section of the forum.

Not going to fit in this Cruiser. No way. 3.5” thick radiator and 1” thick A/C condenser. And we are even ditching the stock core support to gain room.

Cheers

Changed it up on Front shock remote resi mounts from pics seen earlier in the thread.

It did clear how we had them mounted before on the frame rail but was really close at full stuff and full lock, like a 1/4” close. This clears better with more room under suspension and steering cycling.

The beginnings of a rear bumper.

It is getting flush mount Baja Designs back up lights, recovery points and a tow receiver. Basic, simple, flows decent with the old school body.

The front as I am sure most of you notice is a HFS. The owner likes this simple, basic clean look as well.

Obviously we have customized the mounting of it yet kept it stock looking. Original frame horns went back on but were welded and required some coping to suit the shackle reversal. Obviously the top triangular caps we made and they are a bit bigger than stock. They are also 1/4” plate and welded on. We want this bumper to be good and stout yet retain some stockish looks and basic overall classic setup.

Front bumper is also getting some Baja Designs flush mount “ditch lights” and fog lights.

More goodies for finishing touches when the time comes.

Rear bumper, working on receiver now, waiting on Baja Designs back up lights, need to do our tow-recovery points. It’s also getting a trailer plug and we are installing a Redarc trailer brake controller.

I like that rear bumper. PM me if you're interested in making another one like it.

Custom shroud and we should be good to go. In an ideal scenario the fan would be more centered but that’s not very possible simply because the fan is low and offset on the 1HDFT to begin with. Raising the engine would just raise the trans more too and the trans is already nearly 4” higher in the cab than it was stock. The core on this rad is a fair share larger than the stock 40 core, combined with the right shroud and the mechanical fan, I don’t think we will have any issues keeping the diesel cool.

Oh ya, the bezel. 🙄😂

We are playing with this idea, simply to hide the big HVAC unit and make this not look so, bulky.

This is a Vintage air unit.

We are thinking make this from steel, put some beads in it to match the dash and make it a bolt in piece.

It would hide the hoses going up to the defrost vents.

Like I say just something we are playing with and throwing ideas out there for the owner of the Cruiser.

We have had a couple of pms on this rear bumper and making some more.

We are fully up for that, the issue is simply time. We are extremely busy with the builds in the shop, work that is booked for after these and regular service and upgrades on Cruisers. I really don’t know when we could find the time to build a few of these.

Cheers
