I used to use Brake Kleen and compressed air, when I was packing office chairs, too long ago. A shot of brake kleen on the stain then blow it and the contaminant out with the compressed air. Worked every time.

Laundry class????? dang brother, I don't believe I would have shared that!

Not a whole lot done on the lv tonight....felt pretty lazy, probably still pouting over my headliner ;)

Thanks for all the cleaning advice....although the old headliner is on the way back to California and a new one should be here tomorrow morning. I guess I figured for a $250 piece of fabric I should have to spend a few hours getting ink out of it??

Spector handled it ok I guess, they didn't go above and beyond the call of duty in the customer service dept., but didn't drop the ball either. When I called I told them the problem, customer service guy said that they had a few of those headliners with blue lines, thought they had them all back and taken care off. I told them I would like it next day air and if they could work with me on the shipping. They said they would pay up to ground and I would have to pay the difference.......so, that's what I did. Needless to say, a new headliner will be here tomorrow and I will dye it tomorrow night and move on with what I wanted to do.

As far as what I did on the lv tonight, I made a new gasket for the rear tailgate handle and got that installed. I had the old gasket, but it was pretty shot. I used it to mark all the holes first while leaving a lot of excess material. Installed that rubber on the handle and then on the tailgate. After everything was tightened down I used a pen and traced the outline of the handle on the rubber. Removed the handle again, cut it out on the line I made and re-installed......actually worked really good and looks factory I think.

Installed my 4wheel drive emblem and then taped on my landcruiser emblem I made just to get a look. Going to get some auto emblem adhesive tomorrow and get that glued on for good.

If all goes well, new headliner should be tomorrow and I get it sprayed with dye tomorrow night. I think it should be dry enough overnight that I might be able to start installing it Saturday, we'll see?

looking very good. the toyopet came up nicely.

WOW! Did you just get lucky on the tailgate handle without being cracked? Your attention to detail is making me sick:flipoff2: Keep it up!

Looking sweet man. Happy birthday! I'll hoist a drink toward the north tonight while working on my Cruiser tonight.

Where did you source the rubber material for making the gaskets? Also I noticed you were cutting them maybe 1/16" oversize?

Glad SOR took care of you. I have never ordered from them but may consider it now. Best of luck!

Got a few hours dedicated to the lv today.....

Headliner showed up around 11:30 a.m., when I went home for lunch I scrubbed it down with the vinyl prep sauce, washed it off and hung it up to dry...per the instructions.

When I got home tonight I loaded up the gun with the vinyl dye stuff and sprayed it per the instructions....1 light coat, flash dry 5 minutes and 1 wet coat.

It worked amazingly well??? The stuff is as thin as water so you can tell right away it's not a paint and I think that vinyl prep sauce softens up the vinyl. It just kinda soaks right into the fabric right away, in fact it seemed dry to the touch within 5 minutes and I could fold the fabric back and forth with no problem. I guess that's what it is supposed to do and it's designed purpose, should outlast me.

Took a pic of the stuff I used and then I realized the can wasn't dented, 2nd pic is for you Mike :D

Spent the remainder of the evening cleaning out the lv and getting that ready to go. Probably got a couple buddies coming over tomorrow afternoon to give me a hand getting that thing installed. Going to re-visit the headliner portion of the thread and all those measurements and pics Treeroot took a few months ago.....if I can find it  Probably print all those pages off and get my wood cut up in the morning. Then it's start drilling holes and screwing in wood :)

Edit: The last 2 pics are the rear seat brackets that Semlin sent me, blasted and painted up.....Can any lv owners post up some detailed pics of where these brackets go??? Mine didn't have any so I can only speculate?

I'm a loser....:frown:

The parts will be on there way to you Monday...guarenteed..........I've got way to much going on right now, not a good excuse, but the only one I got. I think I'd forget to put my underwear on in the morning right now if my wife didn't remind me......

And don't wait for me if you got stuff going, but I still need to get your stuff back to you either way.....

PS, you also have a Yahoo instant msg....give me a shout when you log on.

Thanks, Matt

Got the rubber from MSC, Burma nitrate rubber in a 50A durometer. Yep, approx. 1/16" oversized just like the OEM one.

Here is what I have. I edited one of you pics. #1 goes against the pannel first, then#2 and after that a piece of rubber that is not pictured. You should have threads that can be screwed directly into. If you don't know the correct size I can find out, but it will take a day or two.

Hope these help. I was in the same boat as you are in, so my stuff may not be 100% correct, but it all fits well and works great.
