Antony if you’re willing to part with that set I can promise I’ll make sure to see what it would take to reproduce them for other owners. If you want to hold onto them certainly understand! I’ll PM you.

Switches were well made (Turn lever / stalk is another story), except they were made in much lesser quantities and on top similar aftermarket switches were cheap and readily available so no one bothered repairing them instead just trashed them.

I did find a NOS replacement turn signal switch (after market) few years back that works just as original including self cancelling. It is well made by a Canadian company and was a bit pricy. It seems to be very rare as I never saw another similar one for sale again. I was also in your shoes to find something that looks and works like original. I was planing to use that but since than I found an original thing.

I will post a picture of it and if you want it will be available at the price I bought it. Or else I will still use it for my DD and save the original in box with other rare bits such as “Darth Vader“ lamp, fuel cap etc and some other nos items that I have collected over the years.

Did you ever fix the turn signal handle? Wondering if that could be 3D printed. Believe John @pardion was working making one. I removed the one good one I have to be sure it didn't get broken. Before installing it would tear the switch apart and rebuild it. Think these are like the TNK wipers that everything inside to lube it dries up and gets hard. With the switch the handle breaks or in your case gets bent.

Where are you at today? Did you move to Melbourne or stay in New Zealand? Believe you were working in Melbourne and possibly moving there.

John, I am yet to do anything with that switch, lucky it clicks perfectly in both directions and self canceling arms are functioning as they were intended. I

I am back in NZ for a short while, but will move back to Melbourne again later this year.

Are moving everything including vehicles back and forth? Maybe you or Andy @andybudge might help with a part request. Not for any 2X series so will message.

While going thru my parts I found some new rubber pads for the brake and clutch pedals. Looks like they are still available and the same for the 28 series for what I can tell. Part number is 47121-55010 probably a pad used on a number of vehicles which why is shows still available. But if any one is in need of runner pads would pick them up just in case.

Whoops I misunderstood this - he was posting a picture of the stock brackets, he doesn't physically have them. I will most likely just replicate what we did on my LV.

good advice! I'll look that part number up and go ahead and order it. Never know when this stuff is suddenly going to be discontinued.

I'm probably going to end up having to research another solution sounds like for the turn signal switch, but will do it with the thought in mind that I want to be able to remove and replace with stock if I'm ever lucky enough to find one - sounds like I better be ready to wait a few decades :)

Pulled the 1960 FJ25 fenders down. They really are in great shape. No Bondo, surface rust only. There is a cut out on the driver fender at the steering box, but you can cut that part out of yours and weld it in.

Late to the party but wanted to share a congrats on the cool rig. The wife was at the auction and sent me some photos of this before it went across. Very cool, looking forward to following your resto!

Don’t know if this helps for reference or not based on condition but maybe get some insights if it ever gets sold and gets restored.

My opinion is that on vehicles this old new suspension components will not detract from originality.

On the FJ40 that's probably true. The FJ25 is even rarer than the FJ45LV. The FJ28 is even rarer than the FJ25. Even thought they are all Land Cruisers something that there are only a small handful left in the world is not the same as the FJ40 which there are still plenty out there on the road. For my FJ25 would re-arc the original springs but I would also use original shocks to go with it. I think the springs for the FJ28 would need to be custom made. The FJ25 springs are different lengths than the FJ40. The FJ28 are different the FJ25 on back at least. I doubt anyone lists the FJ28 springs available. If going for a original restore I wouldn't be removing any original parts. Having driven the 20 series four speed can tell you improving the suspension is just the start to make one a more modern ride.

I'm late to the party as well, actually I'm still not there, but congrats on scoring a relatively unmolested rig.

Most everyone has answered already, but just to chime in:

Bib Lights: Not sure if those are original or not but the early lights were pointy. Unless they have a Stanley or Koito number on them I'd say just replace with the later bib light which would be correct for 1960 anyhow. If your over the top on correctness you may need to address the SAE67 on the lens.

Trans hump: Someone has said it, the transfer shifter would normally be on the left side for LHD, but could also been original on the right as these started as a cowl/chassis and they may have went with the simpler version. If the hump is the same as a 25, I may be able to help you out with that and everything to swap it to the left side.

Suspension: Not original anyhow so don't worry about what's on there. Not sure if the rear spring is the same as a 25, it could be more like a 45. But the fronts are the same as a 40. If it has the right stance maybe don't mess with it otherwise you'll be searching for original springs to rearch.................... and while I attempt to type this John just described the differences.......

Turn signal switch: The switch is built like a tank........the stalk like a repurposed twig. Clamps on and wires like an aftermarket so you can run a signal-stat or the like until you find an original to replace it.

Fenders: Didn't read the thread, but you should have four bolt fenders. If not you can convert them to three, there are plenty of pictures around to give you the detail.

License Lamp: That lamp has all the detail of an early Koito light. check for numbers inside, but if nothing else it's period correct and may have been original. Brake lights were one of those market/year variations. Some sported a single brake light and the other lamps were not combination. Others had combination lamps of some sort. Having semaphores originally, your wiring may be a little different (but probably not original anyhow).

It's got good bones........just don't stress on getting all the pieces overnight......it'll take years. And remember there may not be total conclusion/agreement on originality. Toyota was a little erratic in the early years regarding market, production changes, documentation, photos, illustrations etc.

agreed. Just be patient and keep your eyes open. keep an eye on google, Facebook etc. Some parts turn up on places you don’t expect. I found early parts in Indonesia, Egypt, Australia, Germany, etc. Maybe there is a marketplace like eBay in South America? If those trucks were sold there there might be dealerships that have an pile of nos parts?

I’m not a facebooker, but I certainly keep an eye on eBay and mud daily. If anybody sees any parts I might need certainly give me a heads up! Body work is going to take forever, so I’ve got lots of time to find all the fun little parts...

First few parts off to blasting today. Not gonna lie kinda scary! Point of no return now!
