Some of you all were asking about the 3FE I am running in Miss Javelina and fuel consumption.

I had all my receipts from gas stations for the Pig Party, and ran my GPS for the entire trip.
I purchased 69.390 gallons, and covered 1370 miles.
By my math that equals 19.7 MPG.

I was pretty surprised. That was everything - running 80+ MPH on the interstate, and crawling through mud and uphill in 4Lo.

Not bad.

If anything, that is a conservative # as I was not completely full when I left the driveway with the GPS on.

Any of you SD Cruiserheads are certainly welcome to join us again this weekend. We’re lacking inexperience with campfire volcanos.

thanks all for the pics and tales from the trail. I did get text, parts for motor on the way, so should make PP22. glad you liked walnuts(my nuts appreciate the attention!)
Since i missed PP, my wife booked lodges at coast and inland in Oregon to escape heat. Opps,Crazy, crazy hot.
Did see PO of Steve, had a good visit, also met up with Guster, he gave me a bunch of Pig metal off a 77 he is building-I will post that stuff later when I get some time.
Work a mess since I left, so back to the salt mine!

Back home! So much catching up to do. Jeri and I would like to thank our hosts and guides for the trip without them we would be sitting in a parking lot somewhere. You guys just plain rock, so much fun and your families are fantastic. Please take a headcount of your kids because Jeri might have brought a couple home with her. :) I'm sure they will miss fooling the old couple. We learned a lot from you guys about the Black Hills, very cool state.

Thanks again guys, we will see you again!
I enjoyed your company also and also enjoyed the thought and craftsmanship you put into your 55. Dream truck for sure! My kids also loved how welcoming you two were. Come on back anytime!

Dude, thats crazy good mileage. I would have expected 16ish, but damn almost 20 in a 3FE!!!

Here are some pics of our adventure. It was great to see everyone, I wish we could have stayed longer but I promised my crew some face time ( Rushmore and Crazy Horse). We drove the needles road, iron mountain road into Custer state park. Badlands twice, Wall drug (cuz you have too), rented a gorgeous house in Lead, explored Spearfish canyon area and Devils Tower. We cut for home south of the bad lands through reservations. Amazing route! Made it home safely in two days. It’s time to plan next year!

Great pics…thanks for sharing. One of the many reasons I was disappointed that my 1969 was not ready was knowing that I would miss a chance to see Devil’s Tower again. I climbed to the top with a friend back in college in 1987. Six pitches with rope and carabiners and so many good memories. Too old to do that now but I would have enjoyed seeing it again.

Wow, that would be a heck of a climb!
1987, that is getting to be a few years ago…
