Do these things still happen? Seems like a fun gathering. Is 2026 in the works?

There has been a Pig Party every year since 2017. I have attended the last four years. Always a fun gathering of FJ55’s and great people with some years 14+ pigs and one year as little as three pigs…no pun intended 😎

The PP is usually in June/July. Someone volunteers to take the point to determine location, dates, logistics, etc. Mike and I did this two years ago and then last year I did it with Jake. I will definitely be looking for someone else to take point for 2026.

That’s cool. I’ve been working on a vehicle route following Lewis and Clark’s expedition through Montana. But I couldn’t get it ready by this summer. Heck I’m not I’ll have a reliable rig by this summer.

FJ55’s and canoes, would seem like a fun way to slow drive around this awesome state. So many cool historic places along the way.

Have these been more trail riding /base camping or “overlanding” or hotels or hard stuff and rock crawling?

🐷s out West are scared of crossing Great divide 😮😲😳 thinking they never come back 🐖👈. Parties are a blast 😏🤣 East or West😘. Done both 🐷
After 4 PP’s all in western states I have driven 600-900 miles one way in my pig with a 2F and Holley Sniper. I can do 75-80 but it is still loud and hot even with Vintage Air AC. Maybe I should have put a modern engine in it like some of the other guys? Or maybe I just need to break my drives into smaller chunks so I can truly enjoy the ride?

2F with a 4 speed is enjoyable at 55-60mph, faster than that I start to dread that ol' 2F. Frontage roads and back roads are my preference too. Getting cross country in a 2F... it is hard to be efficient.

There are so many reasons to do an engine swap or to leave it an 2F, all up to want you're planning to do with it. There's no way I want to cross the great prairie, loaded down with camping crap, in the Summer heat, in my seventies and having my wife along to suffer through my stupid ideas of having fun. Even with a go fast motor, I can take three, four or even five days, just to get out West to a Pig Party and that's one way. We do that a couple times a year, one for the Party and one just for us to get lost on our own and if I'm feeling spunky and the Mud Hen ain't broke, a couple of short trips around the Midwest.

We look forward to making another Pig Party, just to see our friends. We don't care where or when, if we can make it, we'll be there. Jeri will bring cookies. :)

Me and @remy1974 did the Rico in 2017! 2300+ miles across the great planes with a 2f and sun bearing down on us cruising around 70, with bags of ice on the floor. Thank goodness for that kid watering the plants on the Colorado border. Laugh my 🐖👈 off the whole trip 🤣. Oh and only had 3 brakes. Partied and wheeled and made a bunch of new friends Great peeps.Arrived on Friday night wheeled Saturday and left Sunday was home at midnight Monday. Would love to squeeze in another but needs to be closer. Best trip ever 😘

I should have also said that I have a H55F 5-speed which helps with the mph’s. Still loud though.

Now that I am retired it seems as if I need to approach the drive to PP more like @scrapdaddy and @bobm do…slow and enjoy for what it is…a great drive in a classic 4x4 that we all love.

BTW - in my current 1985 FJ60 build I will be putting in a 2UZ with Evan’s help of course.
