Finish welded the transfer crossmember, finished the underside of the floor, seam sealed, and primed. Also whipped up a new shifter panel, to accommodate a new boot setup, and center the shift tower a bit better. Getting closer.

Love that vice! I'm still hoping to find a monster at some estate sale with plenty of patina.

Thanks man, she's a keeper. 6" parker vise, with swiveling fixed jaw. 175#

Nice job on the new transmission cover. Did you use thicker steel?

Yeah, a sheet I've had kicking around for a while. 10 gauge iirc, but I'd have to check.

Lots of stuff this weekend. Very, very close now.

As fate would have it, the hurricane off the east coast may cancel Logan's Run, *sigh*

Crossmembers in, driveshafts in, cable shifters in:

Shifter plate, new boot from stronghandboots, and triple shifters installed. SUPER STOKED about how the shifter arrangement turned out.

Hooked up the triple shifters like this, left to right; doubler, transfer front output, transfer rear output. Put the seats in to get a feel and found that the doubler shifter was interfering with my leg (semi-anticipated issue) so I shortened it. The loss of leverage does not seem to be an issue, it's very easy to shift the doubler.

Moved on to the exhaust. Didn't take me very long to put this together, I think I'm getting good at building exhausts  Old setup was pretty much a straight shot from the downpipe to the rear of the truck. Now I've got a *much* larger transfer case, and two crossmembers, that take up the space from the old exhaust.

Fortunately I had some 180* bends left over from the last exhaust I built, along with some straight sections. This, and reusing much of the old muffler section, allowed me to build a new exhaust without buying anything :bounce:

In this next shot you can see a bit of the new floor underside and how it finished up. I'm happy so far with how the 3m undercoating spray looks and feels.

After that, I put new fuel lines in the truck. The aluminum fuel lines sprung yet another leak, so they had to go. 3/8" steel fuel line is kind of a bitch to deal with, but I got it done, and tied to the frame better than before. No pics of that.

Just a few things left to do and we're good to go wheeling!!!!

Exhaust looks good. I'm trying to remember but did you route the fuel lines down the driver side?

I did. Brake and fuel both down the driver's frame rail, away from the exhaust.

Seemed easier to do that rather than cross over the exhaust from the passenger side to the driver's side.

EDIT: to clarify, brake and fuel lines were put on the driver's side when the 4BT swap was carried out, ~5 years ago.

Bought two of these Group 65 AGM, Dual Purpose (deep cycle/starting) batteries today for Moonshine. Posting so as to not forget that they come with a 5 year free replacement warranty. Old group 65 Platinum P2s were dead as a doornail, even after charging them for ~3 days. They lasted almost 5 years, so can't complain.

SLI65AGMDP - X2Power Premium AGM BCI Group 65 Car and Truck Battery at Batteries Plus Bulbs

$600 out the door.
That’s what I bought. Excellent warranty.

Welded up proper rear recovery points and the base for another project last night:

Also figured out the emergency brake. Cut up the original cable passthrough and sunk it into my new floor *sob*. Mounted the handle to the seatbox. Feels like an afterthought, but there isn't enough room under the floor to pass it through like it was stock.

This will work well, and it'll bug me less after I get my driver's seat in, so I'm not staring at this all the time. Some grinding, paint, and a cable, and this will be finished.
