I am in the market for a vehicle that I can use on a daily basis. I already own an FJ40 as a project vehicle, so this one needs to be clean, serviced and a "family vehicle". I will spend up to $11,000 for the right vehicle. My preference would be for another Land Cruiser, but am willing to look at other similar vehicles. Here's the catch I need to complete the purchase within the next week. I am located in Southeast Wisconsin and would be willing to travel up to 400 miles for the right vehicle. 92 Toyota Landcruiser
Saw this up on CL again. I looked at it last fall when he had it up for $9k. I went expecting a totally mint cruiser for that kind of cash, but it needed help. At the time he was certain he was going to get asking price so he scoffed at my offer of $5k. I walked away. The interior and paint is in great shape and it could be real nice. Needs work, but nothing an experianced hand could not remedy in a solid weekend of work.
Here's what I found:

Shocks are totally shot. Looked OEM.
Needs a major tune up. Really doggy, yes I was driving several 91's and 92's at the time so I'm not just comparing to my 470.
Tires were fairly new but due to a bad alignment the fronts were...
I am selling my wifes 2002 volkswagon cabrio. it is black, black top, tan leather interior. around 85k miles. the tires are decent, i think 2 have 15k on 60k tires.
issues:
power windows have a mind of their own sometimes and dont go all the way up
when you go over 60 mph, there is a slight whistle
check engine light comes on if the tank gets below half (checking it out this week)
we would like to get $9,500 for it
To make a long story short, my uncle gave me this truck because it needed a new head gasket. Turns out two of the cylinders were bad because of the blown gasket. Toyota, bless their hearts, felt behooved to replace the entire motor. They sent a new V6 short block.
All told, Toyota put in approx $6,500 in parts and labor into the truck. We put in about $2,500 in parts into it (the NEW parts we provided include: cam shaft, radiator, tie rods and ends, etc). We had these installed at the same time to save us the labor since all the gear under the hood was being replaced under 'warranty.'
All the work was done at Mark Miller in Salt Lake City. I have the paperwork for it, too.
The truck is in stock condition. Bench seat, 5MT, am/fm...

Frame and body in great shape. Interior looks virtually new, no rips, tears or stains. $6.7K put into body restoration at 262K. New tires and stereo in February 2008.
I have every record since the bill of sale. Mechanically, apart from a high idle*, everything seems to be in order. 4X4 in perfect working order.

I have an '86 Toyota (p/u) parts truck for sale. It has a Marlin Crawler double t-case set up, and a lock-rite loaded rear-end with 4.10 gears. The front center section is gone. The 22R engine needs rebuilding. The previous owner drowned the engine in a river-crossing, got it running again and drove it for a few days until it started to choke and gag. It's the same model and blue color as the truck in this thread on pirate.
