Phoenix, AZ 1979 FJ40 Resto Mod, 3rd owner survivor
Selling this turn key and go 1979 FJ40 to make room for another new project. I purchased this unmolested 40 a little over 2years ago as a 3rd owner with no intention of selling it so some of the OCD came out in my restoration/modification. I wanted to have a nice 40 that I could drive reliability day in and out if needed but not make it too nice to take off road when I wanted to. However I’ve just got too many other projects and don’t have the room for this one right now. I have gone through just about everything mechanical on it and tried to leave as stock as possible with some very minor modifications. I’ve listed some of the major items that I have gone through or replaced that I think are relevant and can remember. All items...
Oregon: 1973 Toyota FJ40 -UPDATED!
It is time to sell my 5/73 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40. The body is straight, and the only rust is in the rear sill and a half inch hole where the factory fuel tank used to be. The rear quarters are comp cut and the front fenders have been cut as well. It has a Kayline soft top and BestTop 2-piece doors that do not leak. The engine is a Chevy 350 4 bolt main with Holly Pro-Jection and a thumper cam. Transmission is a SM420 mated to a 203 low range box to a Land Cruiser “3-spd” transfer case. Front axle is a built Toyota 8” with 5.29 gears, no-slip locker, 30-spline RCV axle shafts with 300m inners, 300m hub gears, and high steer. Rear axle is Toyota 9.5” semi-float with 5.29 gears and a LocRite locker. Tires are 36” radial Iroks...
Northern VA/Eastern WV: 1964/FJ40
Vehicle is parked at my weekend place in Delray, WV (26714) $4.5k or best offer. I know these vehicles cherried out sell for over $40k, sometimes over $50k. This was my daily driver until I parked it 15 years ago. New plugs, wires, battery, air filter and starting fluid and it started right up. Chevy 350 engine connected to three speed Toyota transmission. Because it sat so long, it is currently not road worthy. It starts, runs, drives, but brakes aren’t that good. Nothing is power (steering, brakes, etc.). It lived most of its life in Southern California but corrosion is present. Common area along back above bumper, and both wheel wells are showing some corrosion. Also just noticed that the driver floor pan is starting to rust...
I am moving back to Canada and selling my fun mountain truck - a patina Rustic green 1974 FJ40 with an LS conversion built by Bsquared from this forum. I'm the 2nd owner since the restoration project, and in the last 3 years I've put only a few hundred miles on the thing. It sits at my place in Big Bear Lake California, garage stored, with basically 0% humidity. The build was well documented in this thread. Project Duragoat: My 1974 FJ40 Build Thread Here are some photos from when I bought it. https://photos.app.goo.gl/P2Xb7O0cvyCW42Ob2 It's the same now, though I have rear folding seats in there instead of the storage box. I'm looking for $20k - and would much prefer so sell to someone on this forum. Please PM if interested...
Enterprise AL: 1977 Mustard FJ40
I’m posting this for a buddy that’s not on here. I’ve seen this rig in person. And, I’m willing to take detailed photos or video if requested. The story I remember is that my buddy bought this around decade ago from a helo pilot on Ft Rucker. The PO replaced the tub. Not sure if it is OEM or another brand. It is solid though. I did not see any rust through. It has the original 2F with 4 speed. I’ve seen him drive it all over and even up to Troy AL which is over 50 miles rounds trip. I think with a little buffing and some new tires, you’d have a later model, solid 40. His name is John. Tell him Daniel have you his number. 334-470-0416
I bought some parts from this gentleman a few weeks ago and we have been talking cruisers ever since. Super nice guy and a straight shooter. Thought I would help him spread the word because he is not registered on MUD. He has his 65 FJ40 for sale with Idaho Classic Cars, link below. Super nice! https://www.idahoclassicscars.com/details/used-1965-toyota-fj-cruiser/66379839
1980 FJ40 for sale
Evening everyone. This is posted only here. Not on ebay, etc. yet. I have a '80 FJ40 that needs a new home. Also have 2 more (78 blue ragtop /68 black matte HT) 40s and a couple nice FJ43s in Denver. This is a very original truck, and after a bad experience w/ a body shop down here, I've decided to either find her a new home or possibly part her out due to the shipping costs. Tho, I'd rather keep her intact in a new garage if possible. Runs fine and has no leaks. The metal and frame are VERY good w/ some minor surface rust. Needs: one back glass, drivers seat, one side back slider, upholstery, gaskets, wipers, badges, etc. (see photos) Has: driver side step, one back glass, spare rack, and both front door skins. The rub...

Dallas 1976 FJ40
Hey yall, selling a 3 owner 181,xxx mile mustard yellow 40. I bought this car about a year ago and I am now ready to let go so I can get a more practical car for college (aka another Land Cruiser would love a locked 80). $16,500 Original engine and paint, has some sort of aftermarket mirrors, LED headlights, CB radio antenna, Weber carb, rear jump seats in good condition, front seats have a few holes, mostly surface rust from what I can tell but has two spots where rust has eaten through on rear quarter panels, missing headliner, also had a aux gas tank added by previous owner but it has never worked for me (think its something with the pump not working), some sort of aftermarket suspension, and two added gages for volts and Vac. I...

SF Bay Area, 1976 FJ40
Up for grabs is this gorgeous FJ40 that was sold to me here on Mud last November. The 40 is the work of @simps80 who lovingly brought it back from the dead and restored it with countless man hours of labor and dedication and I would imagine quite a bit of hard earned $’s. The entire build from barn find to his sale to me is well documented if you are prepared to read all 21 pages of his build. www.risingsun4x4club.org/forum2/showthread.php?t=17429 I believe there was also a build thread here on a Mud but I have not been able to dig it up. Rather than me blabber on about how awesome this Cruiser is, I’ll let the build details do the talking. I also have over 500 pictures to share with interested parties. Unfortunately, this Cruiser...
