For Sale: 1975 FJ40 VIN:FJ40193478 - Matching Tub and Frame
I bought this FJ40 from a guy in New Orleans in 2013 and it had been painted tan and had a SOA done to it when I purchased it. The SOA was not done to my liking, so it was redone using a Ruff Stuff SOA kit using FJ62 axles. The TBI 350 was already installed and not much has been done to that. There is a link with 150+ photos from when it was purchased, and the work began. The first photos of when it was tan/ still tan paint visible, were the beginning of the project. I did not make a build thread (I should have looking back) but I hope the photos can tell the story as it progressed. The body was removed, and major rust issues cut out and repaired. I replaced the rear sill and corners with new metal and then I POR-15’s the fenders. I bought bud build FJ40 rear fenders and bolted them over the original metal (I also POR-15’d the back side of the bud built fenders). Frame was wire wheeled and power washed and then POR-15 applied. Marlin 4.7 toybox behind an FJ60 H-42 4 speed and a 3-speed transfer case with twin sticks from AA – has the marlin transfer case saver. 1989 TBI 350 engine with aluminum radiator and electric fan. Saginaw power steering and 4-wheel disc brakes. A list below of all the parts/work that has been done. Please message/reply with any questions or requests for more photos. I’m sure there are things that I’m missing as this was a long project.
Last photo below is at Jamboree 2017 on the blindfold driving course taking direction from my co-pilot!
