Any Labor Day sale on the other colors? I love the Hunter Orange color!
No, black only for this sale. The other colors involve an extra step in production and I can't move pricing this low on those.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I wondered if that was a dealership job or not. I have the key code from the original card spare. Probably better to get the dealership to cut it with that code than to copy a 20 year old key.

Order incoming. Thanks again.

Any competent locksmith can cut the key precisely from the key code. In fact...they don't even need a code IF you have a working key now. They can actually I.D. the 'shape' of the key cut and match it to a code. LX keys are not cut from an old key (pantograph style), but cut directly from pre-programmed pattern on a special cutter.

23% discount is an awesome deal!!! Just put my order in for the black, which will make a matching pair with the YMD1 purchased two months ago. Great opp for folks to get a full discounted pair from the get go. Thx YotaMD Guy!

ordered with promo code LABOR (woohoo!) Thank you and looking forward to posting once it arrives and gets assembled.

I can't say no to this. Thank you for offering such a great deal to the community!

So, I have read that this works with short/long and U/I/T shaped keys.

I think all mine are I or T based on the threads, but I appear to have a short, medium and a long one. I didn't know there was such a thing.

Before I cannibalize one, is there anything else I should know here?

EDIT: Longest one was a T, and the kit works perfectly. A long handled razor blade makes cannibalizing easy breezy.

I would check to make sure whatever one you want to break open has a metal thread in the screw blade. If you take out the screw in the back you should see metal threads the same color as the key (brass). If you see only black plastic, that's a u style. Leave that one alone and try another. The u styles are the worst to use as a donor. It works, but it's not ideal. Having a threaded hole in the key (like I and t styles) helps a ton with stability of that blade in the YotaMD kit. If through some unlucky string of coincidence you have all u styles you should buy a fresh blank from my store. I sell them at cost as a courtesy.

Aside from that, should be all good. Key length is not an issue.

Got it, thanks and will do. They are all metal threaded, I was just a little thrown off by the 3 lengths.

Supra, do you know of a vendor to get an extra remote for a 2005. And how do I make sure that remote/transponder or whatever is called will work with my existing key?

I'd go OEM. McGeorge had my remote (for an 06) for $125. More than the Amazon cheapies, but only by $50-100 and you KNOW the OEM will work for years. The Amazon ones are a gamble and you might lose two hours screwing around trying to program it.

ToyoDIY is my go-to for finding parts numbers, but you can call McGeorge and roll the dice on their parts guy, haha.

Is the sale still going on?

I have a key where the metal part broke off right at the point of the plastic joint (I believe the small screw is still attached). Can I use your product to repair it?

The intro sale is long over because this was released in 2017. HOWEVER, the black kits were recently reduced in price permanently to $69.99! Check out the site here: YMD1 - Titanium Reinforced Toyota/Lexus Key Kit

Yes, sounds like you are the exact target customer. Check the link right above this text. All you need is a metal blade and your remote. The YotaMD kit will get you setup with a lifetime setup.

Just stumbled on this thread and immediately ordered one. Heading to the cabin in Idaho next week (where the Hundy hangs out) and I have my original master key in need of repair. It's currently held together with a rubber band, man it will great to get that key back to work.

Any interest in making the titanium bits using additive manufacturing out of a titanium alloy?

l have tremendous interest in making such things, but unfortunately the appetite for purchasing titanium parts like that is very limited.

Do you have a hook-up on a DMLS printer? MetalX maybe?

No no ... real additive manufacturing using blue laser diodes as the heat source, sintering the proper powered alloy. Waaaay beyond "printers". I've worked on such things in the past.
