@4runner2FJ60, awake too early still riding on yesterday’s high.
Some of my list won’t be realistic because I’ve done things most people don’t, marked **
Others many have but I found most awkward.

** In situ: removed cam shaft from engine. That was up there. Jacking up the engine was crazy stressful.

Oops! I realized... pulling the TSM/Tcase is a big one and then rebuilding the tcase... definitely up there too!

Distributor install will definitely be a task that is up at the top too. Just getting it right takes a relaxed hand. This most recent stab took 3. But prior to that ive prob been in the 10ish range.

Installing a fresh head. I had a helper that time too. At 85lbs hefting that over the radiator would have been hell.

Valve adjustment is easy per say but awkward as anything when your 5’5” tall. If you have a long torso it’s prob pretty easy.

** Double tranny install. With better equipment and flooring maybe I couod have done it alone but we literally worked as a pair. Four hands absolutely felt essential.

Literally everything else had just been legos. Follow the directions and it’s all quite straightforward.

** I will say, welding the frame was tough work too. Once I saw the trick to how to actually laying down the bead, it all because much easier. Body work will be more tedious and I definitely have that in my future.

My dad and I stabbed my transmission in one try when we replaced my clutch. He laid close to the clutch end and guided everything and I laid directly behind the tcase and pushed it forward with my feet. Boom. Went right in with zero hang ups. Dad’s also dropped several transmissions in his life and my driveway at the time was like a marble slab.

You really needed to drop all that right here? Show off.

:bounce: Look at me!! Hahaha!!

Well I plan on installing a 5 speed in a few months or at the least rebuilding my tcase so I will be pulling it out again. Only difference is I’m not on that marble slab driveway... I’m going to have to drop the tranny with the truck parked in front of my friend’s house. Drag that sonofabitch up a steepass driveway. Rebuild everything in a garage with no heat. And then go back down the driveway without dropping it. And then reinstall it on a Colorado city street. In January/February...

Should be fine. No issues....

Well you know what karma is right?

Yeah I’m good friends with that beeatch
And I’m well aware too, she’s bit me in arse more times than I can count for my arrogance.... One exhibitionist to another, we gotta watch how proud we are of ourselves.

Got the kid back out... rear driveshaft installed.

Rolling! Whistle I’ve been informed and makes total sense is the throw out bearing against the fingers of the clutch cover. Should go away in time. Gotta bleed brakes again before any big drive. Pedal way squishy. I do have a spare brake booster if necessary too.

Got the kid out there watching the tube on the bleeders as I redid the brakes. Firm pedal now.

Then had him do the screws on the panel. Carpet up, heater vent on, shift boot rubbers back in place.

Going meet a guy from NY (who is picking up tires in the town where I work) to buy a used in good shape hood liner about 11.

Moving right along. I know for sure I need to add more coolant but definitely itching to drive as is the kid. Rainy mild day. Will see...

Ok don’t slam me... one suggestion already is to get an appropriately sized socket and attempt to tap it further in... driverside furthest back SIDE freeze plug leaking. Not the block drain. I was an ass and didnt paint them. They went in AFTER I painted the block so the rims of the holes have a layer of rust. Should have painted. It would have helped. Maybe I can get my hand up and scour around the edge and add a sealer after attempting to knock it in further.

Any other tips beside whst ive already been told and NoT pull the engine.

This happened to me but i had the front clip off was able to take a big socket and some 1/2 drive extentions enough to be able to swing the hammer just under the brake booster and tap it in just a little was still a pain like that not a whole lot of room and can't get straight at it. :banghead::banghead::banghead:

Tapped it in a smidge more from below in the dumbest reach ever w/ the side of a brass mallet while holding a socket that fit the rim of the plug and wouldn’t you know.... the leak got a bit worse.
Started spraying the bolts holding the inner wheel well or whole fender (you guys tell me) so I can remove it and have better access. If I have to empty coolant below that point to remove and replace.... UGh! How the F do I remove it anyhow!!! Muther FFFF!

My machine shop has some plugs they put aside for me. I’ll grab tmrw. What a pain. He said it won’t necessarily blow out but once it’s leaking he said they don’t typically stop.

Staying true to your user name! I like it. Wish i had experience in that area, but look forward to seeing the fix/replacement. Hopefully just a minor setback.
