Tried to do something silly to get the compression stroke on TDC.... figure a condom is enough like a balloon. Unfortunately it wouldn’t inflate even taped shorter. Found it the old fashioned way, finger in the number one plug hole and feeling for the strong puff of air.

So diz is in. Valve adjustment tomorrow. Add fluids; coolant, oil, gear. Driveshafts. Carb insulator and CR carb. VCVs, BVSV’s, yada yada, hook up igniter, add coolant sensor. Figure out valve cover blowby baffle that I removed....

Chicken...
Not. In truth I’m saving others from becoming potentially sick. I think that’s called something vastly different. Getting off is just that when it’s not meaningful. ‘cue sappy music 🎵

Maybe I missed this, maybe not, but opening the “what break-in oil are you going to use?” can of worms.
Been pondering that just the last two days. I could go way cheap and add zinc since its just break-in and will be drained in an extremely short period of time. Or I could buy something specific for break-in such as Lucas, Valvoline VR1 or Mobil 1 and run it for 100 miles?
What do YOU say?

I’ll say, since you’re on the east coast, buy local (?) Brad Penn break in oil - straight 30.

I think I’m gonna go w/ what I bought.
some say break-in is for a start up and run for 20 mins for a few miles then dump.
I think that’s what I’ll do then I’ll add something better for 100 and dump again.

Valve cover baffle back at home. Riveting tool thanks to my powder coater Rob (and kayak buddy). Robs rat rod he’s building behind me. His sons friend Tim fussing over his crooked Taco bumper to frame rail job they did ages ago.
And my valve cover baffle back in place after some drilling by me and riveting assisted by Rob. Fun tool. The gasket that was in there I omitted and simply added a bead of non hardening sealer in its place.

Cold valve adjustment this AM. Carb is on.

Hey so I need to either buy or fab some new exhaust hangers. First and second bracket still there. Third is gone. Actual hangers that held my pipe were the cheap aftermarket stuff. Go w/ cheap for now? I do have some of those on hahd

Dark and cold out there now and in pjs w/ TV on... typical multitasking evening. I can find the pics of the stock ones online.
