Move your wood closer to the front of the engine. It should give you a little more tilt advantage. Between the axle and tie rods or even ahead of the steering if you can fit it.

The axle is totally in the way of getting a straight shot up w/ the wood. I’ll see what I can do in the AM. Thanks for the suggestions.Move your wood closer to the front of the engine. Once I got the shaft out I’d lower the engine and do the bearing install w/ no pan inplace.
I honestly keep thinking of just pulling the gear off the shaft. I took the snap ring off but that woodruff key has it on very snug. I’d have to push the shaft back in and take it off w/ a puller. It would be way easier in some respect.
Silly man @Cruiserdrew, the opposing diz gear on the camshaft. Diz is out. Can’t do this w/ it in.
I’ll ponder pulling the gear.... I’ll look thru the book and make sure my puller is correct.
And @evilorgoodtwin ah, thanks for piping in... you musta had some truth serum w/ dinner eh?
From the book it shows the camshaft out and then the gear is removed w/ a puller. Not sure how easily it’ll go to slide it back in fully so I can thread the puller bolts into the face of the timing plate.... and is that okay anyway? That’s how you had managed it?The one and only time I did this, this is exactly what we did.
Yeah and I’ll pull the money from my ass G. Jesus, settle down till I get the thing out.![]()
Both these bearing are spun right? See scratch marks. I would get a cam kit with new cam/bearings/lifters.
I won’t. Looks and read its pressed on so screw that and hence why I decided to just cut.Don’t pull the gear.
