Welp I might as well step up for worlds biggest loser.
The guy sold these as 31’s and I clearly didn’t look closely.
Bet he had a good chuckle.

They will work great with stock gearing. Use them until they wear out and then go to 31s. You’re only looking at 1/2 inch height difference.

And you have new stock wheels.

Cool thanks guys. Still annoyed w/ myself. Swore he had them listed as 31’s. Clearly he found the right sucker.

It may be a blessing in disguise. It will feel really normal with those tires and stock gears. If you want 33s, honestly, it feels more normal with 4.11s. I very transiently ran 33s, stock 3.70 gearing and did not like the way it pulled away from a light or went uphill.

With the smaller tires it accelerates better, brakes better, steers better. It will be fine.

She’s rolling and has working brakes again! Thanks so much to a local club member who accepted my first time ‘hey can you...’ email via Facebook. Bleeding brakes is hard work. My legs are clearly not as strong as I’d like to think! We took a short spin and she feels good!
Think I’ll take a break now from wrenching and just drive it a bit before tackling the leaky TREs. While we were driving all I was thinking about was the brakes and suddenly I remembered the new knuckles!!! Woot! Felt nice and smooth like butta’!

Riding nice and smooth. No leaks, no chatter, no squeals. Goes 65 easily.

Yeah I’ve fallen in love again. I’m really happy.

Mines way better but I do like those aluminum rims on that Jeep which had Rausch Creek stickers on it plus many others. Appeared to be a chick driving it. Raining so I tried rolling down my passenger window but it chose to go down slightly sideways and I got sheepish.

And spoke to this Toyota owner at length when I went to Tractor Supply for chicken food... 87 4Runner w/ the removable top. His college sons’ but he won’t let him take it off cuz its never been off ever even by the PO. In super nice shape. I shoulda got out of my truck but I was being lazy.

I like the 'right-sized' shoes you've got there. You are probably going to get better gas mileage too!

Truck is looking good. Bleeding brakes is an important skill, so nice going there.

If you are not going to do the rear brakes just now, at least, change out the rear differential oil if it's never been done.

I was kind of amazed where I went with my FJ60 when it was bone stock. 29 inch tires, no lift, still went everywhere including Death Valley and the coastal range. With a lift and 30s you'll do great. Start saving up for sliders if you're going to offroad this beast.

Thank you! I did the rear diff before that trail run a month plus ago. Gonna do the front again tmrw since we all know that oil in there is still wicked nasty.

Congrats! I love how it feels when I work on my truck and it solves a problem and the truck drives better. You've put a ton of work into this last go around, good to see it paying off.

What do you think has been the best thing that you’ve done? Knuckles?

Maybe. The head was fun but the machinist did so much that it wasn’t THAT much work tho cleaning the block and moving the pistons to clean them was fun. I was pretty impressed at how well large trifold diapers fit in each folded three times then rolled like fat sausages.

Using the centering tool was fun. I was so nervous but it wasn’t too hard once I understood the concept. And thanks to @Jaric00n for letting me borrow it. It will be on its way back very soon. And my friend not here who lent me his calipers too.

Next up, TREs and then rear drums, shoes, master cylinders and cleaning up the bellcranks.

I drew up plans a few years back. There’s a metal place here in CT that sells leftover tube really cheap. A friend got 70’ for $50 or vice versa; regardless, pennies. I know another local guy w/ a bender and w/ the welder.... I could just be all set.

Since I like to spend other people's money--I'd like to add slave cylinders to your rear brake parts list. They are not expensive.

Also, the brake master (there's only 1 :D) is quite expensive from Toyota. But if you can find an Advics brand, that is made by Aisin/Denso, made in Japan, and identical in every way, for about 1/3 the Toyota price.
