Would you mind sharing a picture? Did you route the wire through the wiring boot?
I used the License plate bracket that came with the kit. Then I drilled a hole to run the wire. I filled it with Silicone to prevent water intruding and then i just ran the wire up the pillar and all the way to the front of the car thru the grab handles / headliner. Nice and concealed .

I actually kept my camera inside of the rear window, up top. I enjoy that I can just run the rear windshield wiper to clean it's view, haha. I do end up with a 'shadow' line running across the field of view due to one of the defroster lines, but you learn pretty quickly to ignore that. I've thought about making a 3D printed bracket to drop it just a smidge more to avoid it, but haven't done it yet.

Let me know if you do print one as I'd be interested as well.

how did you route the wires thru the headliner? I tried to stick the plastic trim removal tool between the headliner and windshield but the headliner will not budge....aaargh

Has your windshield ever been replaced? I wonder if there was glue squeeze out that glued the windshield to the headliner? There was definitely enough room for me to tuck those wires in up there.

Will do! My truck is still off getting a custom rear bumper built for it, but once I get it back I'll dive into it!

This sounds like the best theory to me. I bought my LX used so I don't know if it's had a new windshield but it seems likely. When I installed my Wolfbox I'd found that the urethane around the glass was inconsistent. In some parts there was certainly too much and it filled a gap where I needed my wiring to go. I had to carefully slice out excess urethane to make room.

On a related note, I'm really getting value out of this thread since I used it to plan my Wolfbox overhaul. I'm only waiting on my #129 Ebay mount to arrive and then I'm going to convert to direct mount. While I'm at it I'm going to install the Wolfbox anti-glare screen. With a beige leather interior the glare is really annoying!

I ran my wires the entire driver side. I loosened the back plastic panels goin all the way up to the headliner. There are plastic panels at the base of the headliner. I removed them and the handles to run the wire. In this picture i am using as an example, the grab handles have plastic around them. They are removable and can nicely conceal the wire.

At the windshield, there should be just enough space to safely pry the headliner to conceal the wire with a plastic trim tool to hide the wire:

Nice posts guys, I’m gonna tackle the rear camera wiring today. With the power cable, rear camera cable and my mic for the grom vlite, there are going to be alot of cables to hide.

Install finished. Also took this as an opportunity to move my Grom Vlite2 mic to the stock mic location. I left the GPS antenna off as I don’t really need it since I have Carplay.

Hi Folks - couple things of relevance to this thread:
  1. The original link to the replacement arm is broken/no longer available. This is an updated one (same seller, still need to request #129 at checkout): Pardon Our Interruption... - https://www.ebay.com/itm/388457977097?_skw=special+bracket&itmmeta=01JWX645RNKSETSWFF3X9QNC22&hash=item5a71e65509:g:eek:hEAAOSwWHFjSDGe&mkevt=1&mkcid=1&mkrid=711-53200-19255-0&siteid=0&customid=&campid=5337589904&toolid=10001&mpt=1179090
  2. I'm now selling the below camera mounts that snap perfectly around the rear trim right inside the hatch. The Wolfbox camera then screws into this bracket, without punching a hole into the trim. I've been running my camera inside, and I really like it. Prevents the lens from getting nasty from road spray/rain/etc. My bracket also lets you experiment with different positioning - now that I have a tire carrier, I'm going to play around with offsetting the camera to get as much FOV back as possible. The bracket is $20 shipped to your door here within the continental US.

  3. I'm also selling the 3D printed mount adaptor that lets you attach the replacement mount arm (from Ebay) to the Wolfbox G930. You can buy it from Wolfbox for $20, or my bracket adaptor for $15 when purchased alongside the camera mount (Also available separate with additional shipping):

These are both printed in a glass-fiber reinforced ASA material for UV and heat resistance. It'll do great in the vehicle long-term!

12 does, but oh well, I'd still rather have it. I just can't push the visor all the way out anymore.
I ended up getting a 12in g900 pro. It does interfere with the visor in the stock position/angle, but since you are now looking at a screen instead of a mirror you can adjust the angle of the g900 to not interfere with the visor and still retain full rear view visibility.

In an emergency situation (no power to mirror) you would need to reposition to see out the back.

I just received the #129 adaptwr and attached it to the wolfbox mount. When assembling everything the original screw that holds the mount to the windshield piece feels fully tightened but there is still a little play between the 129 and the windshield price.

Do you guys experience the same thing? I seated the metal shim/bracket in the only position that made sense.

I had the same thing - my original OEM mirror wobbles there too. I made up some Shims to tighten everything up.

I just tightened the screws on the windshield mount. Even though they seemed fully tight, I was able to get another 1/4 turn out of them which eliminated all the play in the mirror. Make sure you use a JIS screwdriver so you don’t strip those screws.

Thanks for the heads up on the JIS, but I still wasn’t able to turn it further. I ended up making a gasket out of a 1/16” rubber sheet that filled the gap nicely.

Something I didn’t realize before setting everything up is that the screen doesn't function very well as a regular mirror when the display is off. I’ll have to see if I can get use to a full time rear view video feed.

I found that the brightness is not bright enough to overcome the reflection on a sunny day. At least for mine it isnt (g850). I wish they would post screen brightness specs so we could knowing upgrading to a g900 would make a difference. I could use the anti glare film, but then use as a regular mirror at night is impossible. Quite the bind.

I might try making a gasket to fix the slight wobble. Thanks.

Have you tried tilting the mirror upwards? I found that if I left it in the 'normal' position (like if I was using it to actually look out the rear window as a mirror) that the reflection was bad. Tilt it upwards slightly and it was fine.

My rear camera mount. It's working really well, even if it's ugly as hell.
