Would you be up for creating these with a standard head instead of the allen head?

Possibly, I just went with what I thought looked best.

I really don’t want too many different versions as I have so much on my plate as it is.

I will look into it.

Thanks

Sweet! Once you know let me know and I’ll take a set for my rebuild.

The bushings fit the ambulance door hinges too..

Have you considered making pins to work with 'Oilite' bushings that are readily available... and wouldn't need to be specially made.

In my case, my hinges were worn beyond belief. The specs are in another thread, but by memory, I drilled the hinges out to 3/8" and used a 5/16" pin.

They could be used for overly worn hinges or to save you machining time.

The bushings are the OILITE, but I have to remove 0.008” from each flange for them to fit properly. It’s not a lot, but needs to be done so your not trying to force the inner hinge into the outer hinge.

The pins are completely machined by me from raw stainless steel bar stock.

On another note: I really don’t plan on making a ton of these. This all started as I was ready to install my windshield and needed to do something about my corroded pins and hinge bores. This was the solution I came up with and figured since I was set up, might as well make a couple more sets just incase someone else would be interested. It would be one thing if I had a CNC, but standing at my lathe for a couple hours each night really isn’t what I call fun. Once I get burned out and there’s no more interest, I think I’ll be done. Plus it’s take away precious 40 time.:)

I really don't need the hood or windshield hinge pins with bronze bushings but they just look so professional, heavy duty and neat! I will attempt an order once the SS check arrives in Feb. BTW The decal is terrific, I WANT ONE!

I need a set of hood hinge bushings for my lwb45 SO BAD! I hadn’t checked back into your thread for a couple of weeks and missed that you were doing this.

I can appreciate that you don’t want to go into production on these, so I won’t dig my 40plus sets of windshield hinges out like I planned. Just one hood hinge set for my personal rig...and a Blues Brothers decal. ;)

Mark,

Sounds great! I would be honored to have some of my parts on your rig.

I know you don’t do PM’s so here is my PayPal address: sgraphman@gmail.com

I will make sure to throw in some other goodies too!

Thanks
Steve

My 64 and 65 have the one pictured. My 68 has the common three-sectioned. I believe the change occurred after 9/66, when the 40 series got the dash pad. Apparently the 45 series may have a slightly different cutoff.

Do you want me to send you a sample to check, or can I take some measurements for you?

Here’s my measurements.

Maybe you can compare? I know none of them will be exactly the same due to the pieces being stamped steel.

Here you go.
