In the body repair manual there are references to "Pastar UWE" and "Pastar UC" to be applied with a "Pastar gun" to the wheelhouse, chassis, and other areas. My search of this forum and the interwebs generally has not identified additional information about what I presume is a proprietary product which has been either discontinued or updated/improved under a new trade name. I am hoping that identifying more information about this product will lead to a supplier of this coating or an appropriate substitute for the thick coating applied within the wheel wells as mine is starting to come off. If anyone has any insight it would be appreciated, and likely helpful for others.

I'm sure SEM or other similar body supply companies have an equivalent product.

FWIW, I used a 3M brand undercoat in my wheel wells.

Same 3M undercoat
It’s been holding up nicely.

@CharlieS & @Broski have you got the part number of the 3M undercoat that you used. I bought something similar from 3M but it was more like truckbed liner and definitely not the thick rubber coating i was hoping for.

I'd also appreciate a picture of finished application if possible. I was pondering cleaning up my wells with something like duracoat as a summer project this year. Thank you timely topic.

Sorry I don't been some years now, I did more then one coat on it and it was not as thick as the original.

Wurth makes a good undercoat product...or used to...been a while but it is used a lot in older euro stuff.

The closest thing to what/how it is applied at the factory is the 3M Body Shutz. Goes on thick, applied via Shutz gun, works very well.

Has anyone used cosmoline? It’s served militaries well for a century.
I had my tacoma sprayed with cosmoline to thwart rust. I recently moved to MN and my new Tacoma was the guinea pig. The cosmoline is nothing like the facotry rubberized undercoating. Apparently in the rust belt rubberized undercoatings can cause more harm than they prevent--especially when they are applied over any existing rust. The cosmoline is more like the wool wax or fluid film in that it is kinda temporary, but it dries and isnt a disgusting mess to work with. I wanted to try it out on my tacoma, before applying it to the cruiser.

So apple and oranges, but still fruit?
