Maybe I’m in the minority here, but apply the logic of the OP’s car want list to the average American today and I still struggle to understand how 10 grand buys a good vehicle needing no work.

I want a nice vehicle that can do anything I want it to on or Offroad that needs no repairs or maintenance needed for less than 10 grand? Let alone a rare triple locked 80 with NO rust?!?

Dude for 4 grand most of this forum who do their own wrenching would have loved that deal over the last 5 years. If you want an 80 that’s clean with no leaks or repairs needed out of the gate and ready to enjoy for a while your budget seems unrealistic as far as I see it. If it runs well and brakes work and drives without bad noises buy it and give it love! You’re a cruiserhead so you know this journey requires.
You're probably not in the minority. I wasn't looking for something that can do anything I want it to on or off road that needs no repairs or maintenance with zero rust and triple locked. All I was saying is I've been intermittently looking for an 80 series under $10k. They pop up now and then, of course. I'm not opposed to something that needs some repairs either.

I would be a buyer, but I would also plan on putting money and time into it.

If you can't do it yourself, you would still have thousands left in your budget to pay someone else to do it.

I initially wanted one ready to go so I can drive it immediately, but this will definitely be a bit of a project.
To quote your original post it looked like you were after a clean 80 that needed no work for under 10k.

I’m essentially saying to you and anyone else that reads this thread that is a fever dream. These rigs even well maintained and lower miles command insane money. Also the majority of these vehicles are made past 30 years old and most dealers can’t even service them anymore (techs don’t know the platform). I’m merely providing this feedback so others understand your expectations will not be met at that price level and the 80 that you had looked at would be a great platform for someone considering the seller lowered their price to $4,000 and this vehicle ran and drove/is triple locked/ and no rust.

Hopefully @fj80
Don’t worry guys I saved it. Couple bucks, couple hours and it will be a new rig. Very poorly maintained like none. Leaking from every seal. But overall a good cruiser just needs a cruiser head to give it some attention. Pretty hard to find a running locked cruiser that’s been owned by the same guy for 15 years for under $10k. After I sort it out will post it for sale for $30k sounds about right. :flipoff2::flipoff2::flipoff2:
I am glad someone grabbed this one to save. After thinking about it a bit, I tried to find the listing to see how far it was from me so I could take a look at it and most likely buy it to fix for my kid or just use for parts.

That is a money pit!
every 80 is

Not everyone has the stomach for it, or the wallet for it.

One man's project car is another's boat anchor.

The OP was overwhelmed with what he saw, and first reaction was to walk away. Stick to this.
There's a cruiser out there that won't present as such an overwhelming prospect. Will it be more dollars? Probably.

I don't remember any regrets for cars i didn't buy. There's cars I really wanted over the years, but logic prevailed, and i have no regrets.

On the other hand, I have had a few I decided to buy against my better judgement, and regretted it every time some POS nickelled and dimed me with some bullsh!t, horsesh!t issue. It's like salt in a wound!

There's also been times I've bought POS cars with the view that they are disposable. A major failure means the whole thing gets junked. Not worth fixing. If it lasts a year, I'm square, if not, I've dropped a grand or two, no more.
