What years had 6 digit odometers for FJ40s, if ever?

?

I would like to put a MPH face on my BJ42, with a miles odometer, but since I have about 280k miles I was hoping there were 6 digit odometers in the later FJs. And then I was hoping somebody had one to sell, but that's for the parts wanted section.

Thanks,
B

my 83 model has a 6 digit, its been stuck at 160000k for the past i dont know how long. So all 80 and on models should have them.

But if it's your HJ then it's in Kms...

I have an '82 FJ40, it has the 6 digit odometer. SOR shows 10/79 - 8/83 as being the same speedometer so that would be my guess. I bought a '79 gauge cluster to replace my km cluster in my '82 FJ45 and it was the 5 digit type.

Ken, look at the For Sale section for cruiseroutfit's ad, there is an MPH gauge FJ40 cluster with 6 digit odo. $85.

Dave

How did I miss that? I've combed that add...

Thanks,
B

would be fun to do a price comparison these days to the late model 6 digit gauge set... likely not 85$ any longer

wrong,

as John stated above 1981 model year, along with the 17 digit vin, collapsable steering column, split case, e brake on the rear axle and some other changes, at least in the US

the 1980 speedo has the 55 highlighted in a box, I don't think the 79 did.

Steering wheel, center console heater, and I am sure other stuff I can’t remember maybe improved rear tire carrier (extra brace?).

Extra brace in the tire carrier started 5/80, mid year change. Springs and transmission crossmember verses a bellhousing motor mounts were a 8/80 (81 model) changes.

The 1980 with the 55mph highlighted is the rarest in my opinion.

Matt, I think the cluster history is off alittle, the grey speedo went away in 1964? 1963? being the last year of the grey speedo and the oil and charge lights

Not exactly paul

Your both right and maybe indeed off a tad too with all do respect

Keeping in mind I did not crate this killer kool
Work of art and am posting it with the permission of my fellow Artist …fyi

@pardion and I concluded a few years ago the FJ45LV Panel
Van / wagon still kept using the silver guage face and indicators type warning lamps a model
Year or 2 only longer then a Fj40 ….or a FJ45 pick up

If anyone can confirm, or otherwise add to this unique fact please chime in ..

Paul , I have lost touch with the original ARTIST ?

If anyone knows who or where to contact him please PM me ..?

As a general rule of Artist,s professional code and ethics I can,t simply
Photo shop or alter his original work in any way …

It’s a mutually acceptable common sense respect thing too ….

I agree the silver face pro date is off a Tad as well at least USA spec. ?

However the origina artist is located in the NON-USA far away region so that can play a part here too …

Thanks Matt
