I'm afraid I'm no good with metric measurements, I grew up with inches/feet here in the states. But, the baltic birch ply does come in metric size (imported here to the states) which is just over 5ft by 5ft square, and can be purchased in several thicknesses. Every ply is made the same, both in thickness and type of wood, unlike the usual plywood manufactured here in the states.
Back almost forty years ago now when I first became acquainted with baltic birch ply I saved a few scrap rippings and gave them to a friend of my Dads. This guy did a lot of lathe turnings in his spare time. He glued them together and tried them.
I later learned from him he did not ever want any more scraps for turning. The wood was so hard that he was having to constantly re-sharpen his cutting tools because the plywood would dull them so fast.
The cabinet shop where I used to work uses BB ply for all their drawer boxes. The corners are dovetailed together. This makes such a strong box that I think they could be stronger than boxes made of solid hardwoods.
