Sweet cage Drag Racer! I love your '40, the black looks awesome! I would hate to keep it clean :-)

Thanks Broh, luckily there isn't too much to keep clean compared to a full size vehicle. It looks good when its clean, and its not clean in the pics. It won't fit in either of my garages, so I have to rely on a cover to keep it clean(ish).

Got a new shift boot made at the upholstery shop for my 73 40, early boots were to small later boots weren't fitting like I thought they should I think this turned out nicely.

:cool:OK - so I found Coolermans pages and looked over all of the wiring supplies pages . What caught my eye on your photo were the red stud covers. What I have been looking for are some stud covers for a couple of Winch(s) motors I have - not a lot of luck there. With all the winches around I sort of thought they would be easy to find since the rubber covers rot off. I found 3 covers Coolerman has and I am in the process of ordering & I sent Coolerman (Mark) an email asking about the winch covers.

But I was wondering if any one out in FJ40 land ( or Winchland) knows of a source for winch motor stud covers??

Thanks

LBM

After 5 years of driving on uncomfortable worn out stock seats, I had them rebuilt in Escondido. CA. New foam, new marine grade vinyl to match the SOR graphite door panels, and cloth tops and backs for under $400! I'm thrilled! Job done in two days and under the estimate. He even dyed the headrests so they match the graphite vinly on the new seats. I just took him my jump seats and re-building them to match the fronts. I thought about all vinyl, but in the desert where we wheel, they are just too hot and sticky. Cloth works best for me.

I'll get out and take a picture after dinner and see if I can figure out how to post it for you.

i ordered the bottom six inches of my driver and passenger doors so i can finish the panel work on them, sent one of my rear seats to be recovered and made the hinges for my sunroof and brought another set of ambulance doors that seem to be in really good nick so hopefully no rest repairs required

so all in all a productive week

The Vendor name for the stock seat rebuild in Escondido, California is

Speak to Erik Morales, the older son. Nice people. Father and his two sons, small shop, and I think they are honest. Dad did upholstery in Mexico City for 25 years and is teaching his sons how to do the business here in the states. They work fast and produce quality work. They have my jump seats now for a full rebuild to match the front seats for $110 each. They did my stock front seats for $160 each, including new foam, new vinyl and cloth covers and dyed the headrests to match. Yesterday they pulled my door panels and put a foam insulation layer/water barrier in for so little that it was embarassing and I left them with a tip to buy them lunch.

Got my front driveline back from getting lengthened, and fresh joints. And with the weather here in the northwest, along with the new top I got earlier this year, I was able to drive it in conditions OTHER than sunny skies for the first time in more than a few years.

Catching up on about 3 weeks worth of updates.

Well my Quadrajet finally died on me.....it just constantly floods. I plan on rebuilding it at some point but in the meantime I installed an Edelbrock 1406 600 CFM with electric choke carburetor. I did install the 1465 spring loaded needles and seats along with lowering the floats to 5/8th of an inch and total drop to 1 1/4 of an inch. I also blocked off the rear fuel channel so each chamber will work independently. So far I really like the way my motor is performing now.

Next I installed a Holley fuel pressure regulator and set it to 5.5 PSI per Edelbrock's recommendations.

Due to excess heat under the hood I installed additional venting and a sealed airbox from Spectre Performance. This was also done in preparation for one of Awl_TEQ Awesome aluminum Snorkels.

^^^ What vents are on your hood (brand, metal or plastic and purchased from where)? Thanks!
