Line-x the filberglass top...looks great

finished the roll cage and ordered the ham radio parts for that install. Weatherstripping is in the mail and securing the top together and add the hoist next week. Moving the rig in teh garage tomorrow and finish the wiring and engine swap then.

Put on new battery cables, new mil-spec terminals, broke 2 bolts in the frames holding the POS factory skid plate on, and painted the wagon wheels Rustoleum hammer black.

Charging the battery and ordering rebuild kits and a flex hone for my wheel cylinders...

Yesterday power washed nearly 50 years of dirt and grime off.,Today pulled the 3 on the floor shifter and put back on the parts for 3 on the tree and vacuum shift. Tested the vacuum part with a vacuum pump and it shifts in and out of 4wd. Cant wait to get this done so I can drive one with 3 on the tree like I did in high school. Now to start prepping the frame and engine to be painted.

Almost finished my disc brake conversion on my 1970 FJ40 when I realized Im still missing parts. Also purchased a Lexus IS300 with a single turbo supra engine swapped in pushing 510rwhp!!!

My wife gave me the OK to get a 3/4 body tub from ccot, I couldn't believe it...I just showed her how much rusted metal I would have to replace and explained how much time I wouldn't have to spend with her and she said "OK ..but you've got to take me to the beach 4-weelin and fishin on the beach at atlantic beach NC..(thats where I'm from HA!HA!) SOme times we get lucky. ONLY PROBLEM not much beach at ABNC

Finished tightening down the cage. Double checked the idle vacuum to see if I can diagnose the acceleration flat spot. (More questions than answers as always :bang:)

Sighed at how much work I have to do to get ready forSurf-n-Turf.

Wrote up a 'for sale' description of my rig, as I think I have come to grips with the idea of moving on from a 40 for a number of reasons. :frown:

Nice! trust me it will save you time and money.

Have you looked heard of Paul Pilgrim? Check him out at Pilgrim Restorations Original Body Parts this is the guy that made the CCOT tubs and now on his own...just saying.

Finally found some time to run over some wiring , found a bad ground on my 12 volt plug. Found a split wire on my extra gauges , some how it had gotten caught on my clutch pedal. Then replaced a blown fuse. Pulled out all the PO hack for LED lights on the front.

The fun part: folded down the wind shield for the first time , cleaned up the underside of the windshield , cleaned the gasket. Loaded the kids up and went for a ride ....

smiles from ear to ear at 40 miles per hour. -- note to self next time wear sunglasses.

Installed new 6 1/2 in Tuffy consol. Had to drill some new holes in mounting bracket to move it back about 1 1/2 inches. Worked out good. Love it.

Went to adjust my brakes for the first time in a long time. Decided to take the drums off to inspect them. Good thing, 3 out of 4 front shoes had bad heat cracks and at least partial delamination. Had some extra shoes to replace them with for now.
Based on the scale at the dump my 40 is 5200lbs. Guess maybe I should swap in the disk axle I've had waiting in the shed for about 5 years :meh:. Oh well, been hanging onto the old ball and claw axle since it's worth nothing and it's about the last mechanical part left on the 40 from when it left the factory.

Installed the passenger seat. Installed the passenger three point seat belt using the 7/16" fine thread bolts. Yes they are SAE not metric for the belts.

Worked to install the three point seat belt for the driver only to find the retractor is jammed. :bang: I'm going to see if I can fix that or it's will be time to order a new set.

Bolted on the passenger side mirror arm and aftermarket mirror from CCOT. I hope the mirror screws on the ball tighten down more.

Lots more to do this week...
