Big thanks to Rick @GA Architect for answering a quick question, well probably none of my questions are quickbut his help and sage advice got radiator petcock back on and NOT leaking. Used Loctite 567 on the drain and the brass plug. Started up the ‘76, let her run for a bit and no signs of leaks!

Confused why would you destroy a three speed bellhousing, not they are worth much? If the engine is seized why not just tear the engine down until the crank will spin? Seen the same appproach done with a sledgehammer which was probably quicker. Probably a small market for these besides the original three speed these are used for a SM420 and possibly the SM465 to F/2F.
define destroyed? its cast steel, that piece could be easily MIG welded back in. Not that it’s necessary for a 3-speed.
2 minutes to cut a hole vs 2 hrs to clean up the giant mess made from a motor tear down. Hmm
i have several 3-speed bellhousings (un destroyed) if you need one.
Youre going to love when i resurface my flywheel myself!![]()
Needed to rotate crank to set TDC for new distributer install and cold value gap checks. Made a new shop tool since I don't have a genuine OEM.
Parts list: 20 mm (19.7) steel bar. 13/16 spark plug socket, 1/4 x 3 (I think) bolt snipped, 1. Drill steel bar, 2. Weld, = new shop tool.
AND I'm really happy that my grill is not upside down!!!
