Ummm, I probably shouldn't note that I've been at mine for 10 1/2 months.

Of course, I'm retired and have nothing to keep me from working on it daily...

I’m in no hurry... just trying to keep making progress. My one piece of advice is to decide what you want in the end and plan the path to get there.

3 years but retired mid-way through the project. I seems that I keep catching all the curve balls and have less time to work on it now than I did when I was working.

It's starting to come together. So much more fun putting shiny parts back in than taking rusty parts out.

Picked up axles, 3rd member housings and rotor shields from metal cleaner. No more rust inside my axle tubes!

Next to powder coater and then time to build diffs and front knuckles

Mmmm shiny

Haven’t seen much of it in the last 27 years. Lots of rust, rust, and more rust.

Brought the tub home today. Spent the afternoon chasing all the threaded holes of paint and primer. Also played around with some trim and such, just because I can. Should pick up most—if not all—the remaining parts from the painter tomorrow. Planning a tub reunification party for Sunday after lunch.

I think you meant to drop that off at my place. I’ve got a split hood and reproduction hood spear that’d go great with it.

JK

Keep the pictures coming... if it looks 1/2 as good as I think it will, I may just have to paint my 40 that code of blue rather than the darker OEM blue I’d been leaning towards.

It was originally red, but the misses thinks there are too many red trucks. Original sailed long ago, so I’m not worried about that. Blue would also work better with the company colours and logos. It is our only vehicle that’s not wrapped. Perhaps I’ll wrap it in a solid colour before painting it... on another forum it sounds like materials would only cost a couple hundred bucks. If it lasted five years or so it’d be money well spent. If I had extra material any damage could be replaced easily.

That's funny. I also have a split hood, but with an original hood spear. I also expect them to go great with it. :D

Looks great... like mine but shinier. Did you use any sort of material between the spear and the paint?

How about plastidip, cheaper to buy, easy to apply and can be touched up.

I’d not want to spray plastidip on a textured ‘flat’ paint. It’d likely never come off.

A quick online search would put it at cost of about $200 usd for the complete rig. Based on a price an expo member I know paid for material to wrap an extended van it could likely be done for $125 usd.

Beginning the new upholstery install on the freshly powder coated seat frames. Driver's cushion done.

Just really like this color!
