Project new seat covers has started, since i have had my FJ i have wanted to change out the seat covers so i tackled that today. Little more challenging that i thought but got the front seats done and very happy with it.
I agree, it is harder than I expected. I've still got one part left to go. The bigger bench seat halves are much more difficult than the smaller seat.

Took the 42 out for a drive. I left for work over a month ago it was summer! Now its fall i guess haha.

Evicted a mouse from my air intake when I opened it up to see how "clean" the air cleaner unit was. Luckily he didn't get past the oval air filter. Carburetor looked really clean, though some of the linkage springs are shot. I have two open threaded holes near the emissions air rail, toward the back of the 2F engine that I need to figure out what goes there. I assume one is the temperature sensor, but not sure what the second one is for. There is also a small vertical tube at the back of my engine on one of the headers that just points up to nothing. So back to the books to try and figure it out. Didn't have my camera at the time but may post some pictures later.

Got my motor restarted after two years of my project.
Deleted a gas conversion .
Rebuilt and modified the headers.
Petronix 2 ignition on new dizzy.
PO had deleted the factory pump, went electric . Upgraded that to a carter brand.

Adjusted valves , cold then operating temp.
Tuned by lean drop method.

Nice idle , pulls close to 20 inches of vacuum. One happy chap .
Hope to drive this thing again finally soonish.

Video below , excuse the messy engine bay... need to tidy some wires secure battery etc. ect.

added more mud on Friday I'm learning alot. I've restored several tractors, but not much mud work on a tractor. My buddy Dave is doing my paint but I'm getting in the way as much as I can. Started with metal to metal to fill welds. then mudded it all, sanded to find highs and lows. Mudded again to fill the lows. Then we will sand again. And lastly we will be adding a product called icing. Then sand that. Then a builder primer. Than more sanding. Ugh than a sealer. Than color than clear. Lot more than I knew about for sure

It has been monsooning here but I drove my 40 in it yesterday just to remind me how bad an idea it is with a Swiss-cheese hardtop and no weather stripping...

Every time I make a right turn I get a deluge of water onto my shoulder through the hole where the “dome light” should be.

Barely tech, but, I found a guy on Etsy making keychains with retro car company logos on them. Had to pull the trigger - I think they compliment my 40’s keys nicely.
