Nothing... Again... Just laying in bed with daBoise, high on oxy... Looking at pictures...

I had these wheels and tires put on in May and they have less than 200 miles on them... Poor 44, she's ready to go... Poor dogs, they're ready to go... Poor Danny, he's too high to care right now...

But, ain't she purty!?! Chester's peeking out the window... Gunner's in the back.

I have a 40, again. This one will not be sold. But we lost our last golden a few months ago. For 35 years golden retrievers have been in our family. Life is only half right. The other dogs and cats just don't fill the empty spot.

I agree completely!! But, others will say otherwise... Goldens just "fit".

Simple one here..
Had a bulb burnt out anyways and buddy at work had some 1157 red LED's. Had to take channel locks to the socket tighten it up abit but turn signals work like normal etc. Stupid bright over the bulbs.

Put new headlights in and wired up my winch with Albright solenoid under the bonnet.

Since I got my motor fired up finally, I've been chasing a few gremlins. Could not find a starter that wouldn't hang up all the time. Tried 3/4 offset, 3/8 offset,shims, you name it, starter still wouldn't disengage. Come to find out, the 96 f250 the motor, bell housing and flywheel came out of uses its own special starter. Go figure.
Went through my transmission and t case, and resealed everything since its been sitting up a few years. Got the new clutch and pressure plate installed, rebuilt the top shifter tower on the trans, and hopefully did a permenant fix on the loose shifter locator pins. Did away with the press in pins since they had oblonged the bores from being loose. Tapped the holes for a 5/16 bolt, and installed stainless button head bolts for the locators. They fit the slot in the shifter cane perfectly. If it starts showing wear on the bolts, I'll see about installing some hardnend caps over the threads.

Also ordered my new headlights from cj pony parts. They are the 7 inch,2400 lumen LEDs for a 1970 mustang. I installed a set of these lights ( 5-3/4) in a customers 1969 mustang and was amazed at the amount of light they put out. Literally night and day. I chose these lights because unlike most of the led, halogen, or xenon headlight kits out there, these look like a stock sealed beam. They draw about 1/10 the amps of a standard sealed beam, which is great for rigs that don't have a relay. Takes all the load off of your headlight switch and wiring. Installation is simple, only minor trimming of the headlight bucket( on the mustang) for the heat sink to clear. I will post up about the install into the 40 buckets when they come in.

Cobbled together a temporary bikini top while I work on finishing the hard top.
Had an almost new Jeep TJ frameless soft top in the basement and some 3/4" EMT.
Yes, it needs some paint.

Made progress on the doors, now painted and ready for assembly.

Discovered that 9mm Luger brass is the correct I.D. & O.D. for the hinge bushings.
The old bushings were shot, no pun intended.
Flaring the exposed portion of the brass provided a bearing surface for the weight of the doors.
I'll see how this works out in the long run but it let's me keep moving on the project.

To be clear, spent brass only, no live rounds were chucked in the lathe.

Great tip on the 9mm brass bushing. With a day at the range I could fix 100 sets of doors! I wonder if they would work on hood hinges?

If your hinges are worn like mine were after 40 years and 200k miles, 'Oilite' has ushings that easily fit if you drill the holes out a touch... no longer oval, and with a liberal amount of filing a snug fit in a few minutes. Cost was around $12 for oil impregnated bronze bushings for both doors.

Instead of using my 2nd 1979 FJ40 I just purchased as a parts car, I decided that I am keeping it. Did the following:

1. Re-connect some loose electrical connections as well as fixed broken ones. Now all lights work
2. Oil Change, Air Filter Change, Radiator Fluid Change, Transmission and Transfer Case change.
3. Took a sawzall and cut off the rusted muffler, and drove it straight to a muffler shop and put on a cat and muffler.
4. Realized that instead of trying to get one FJ40 running, now I have another one to deal with as well.....

Just bought a '72, just joined the forum, and just started an FJ savings account.

Welcome to the forum...when I joined up not so long ago I was soon told to refer to my FJ40 as a 40 - not a FJ so as not to confused with the FJ Cruiser
