You did all that in 3hours? That’s impressive. Where do you live because I’d like to hit you up when my next timing belt change comes around lol
Oh, no, I only beat my deadline by 3 hours. This took me an embarrassing long time and I ran into a myriad of issues particularly changing coolant hoses to engine oil cooler, and waiting 2 damn weeks for Lexus to ship me the right alternator brushes part number — which ended up not fitting my alternator (I think since denso reman?) and I had to take a jigsaw to the one I got to make it fit. Also had a heck of a time draining coolant from the PS drain and used a flare nut crows foot which was stuck on the damn bolt for 10 days until I was finally able to maneveur it off.

Was a big project with a lot “while I’m in here.”

Wow! What did you use?

Congrats on the new addition.
Just did my own TB job with all the goodies, even had a alt brush I was going to install but talked myself out of it. Alt only has 40K miles, so my lazy side of me won the day.

Looks good. On my lx i wet sanded the wood overlay to remove the shine and resprayed it with satin clear coat to give it a more modern look
Grits used? I tried something similar a few years ago. Let’s just say it did not turn out as nice! Your pics are inspiration to dig in again!

My day today… flush, new hoses, new radiator and HO alternator. And because I am dumb, also my day tomorrow! Knowing I was doing both radiator and alternator, I was fine with doing it by the book and taking out battery, air intake etc…. But I also wanted to flush it before I put in the new radiator, which requires running the engine… which requires a battery and air intake etc… just burned time. Flushed, so can just do the R&R on both tomorrow. Fingers crossed no more dumb stuff!

800 grit wet sanded, had fish eyes on a couple attempts.

Looked like trash half way in, but kept wet sanding and adding coats until the gouges and mistakes were gone.

Key on the clear is to spray a fine light spray, let it flash off then follow up with a wet coat after 2-3 minutes.

Alt brushes are a two 🍌 🍌 job unless you can juggle then one 🍌. Hardest part is pulling the damn alternator out and dealing with the cord and hanging on to the power steering pump. My brushes had to have been 10 mm shorter than new so I’m glad I addressed!

Can relate, I had some new cam seals that didn’t get installed, looked dry so 🤷‍♂️.

After 10,853 miles, 3 cracks in my windshield and two oil changes ,I just got back from my Alaska/Arctic circle trip that I took w/ my teenage daughter. These LC are a true testament to great engineering, I had zero issues on my trip. The trip was 5 weeks of absolute heaven. We encounter fires on the Alaska Hwy just after Fort Nelson, camped in places that redefined beauty, drove through feet of snow on the Denali Hwy, hiked the Root Glacier , etc,etc.....

Great photos, thanks for sharing.

Installed a JDM style eBay spoiler. The 3rd brake light wiring got severed when installing so I’ll have to pull it back off to address that, but it looks cool at least.

When I bought it the rear upper hatch was very rusty - had another one painted and installed myself. The spoiler was the last piece of the puzzle.
