I just mounted up my 35x12.5R18 spare tire in the factory underbody location and I had to remove my OE hitch receiver. Although I don’t use my hitch receiver that much to load bikes anymore, I feel the rear lost some sort of armor in case of a rear-end collision and for when I need to recover someone. Now I can’t stop thinking about the ARB rear bumper with spare tire and jerrycan swing outs. :bang:

I swapped out my 35s yesterday for Falken RubiTek 275/65R18s. I spend more time on roads and light trails, so the weight and stiffness of the 35s that were on when I bought it just didn't make sense. I decided to take measurements of the lift after watching some CruiserPatch videos last night. I was pretty sure the torsion bars were cranked too much and thought I might adjust them to correct specs. Turns out that previous owner installed the Ironman lift backwards (didn't swap RH to LH for US vehicle). So my passenger side has way too much lift AND the TBs are still over cranked. My Happy Friday just turned into having my favorite thing on 4 wheels in dry dock until further notice. Man what a bummer.

To each their own. I have an ARB rear with dual swingouts, and that makes it impossible to mount a 34.5" tire in the standard spare location. Swingouts make access to rear difficult for daily life, and limits your choices of bike racks that would work.

I miss my stock bumper with OE hitch on the previous truck - some times you don't realize your blessings until you lose them!

I’d be interested in something like this for the 100 series. An adjustable rear panhard rod made with additional spare tire clearance. Even a little more room would make a big difference.

@ClassyJalopy exactly what my dilemma is, if I’m ready with all the trade offs you mentioned. @GTV how close is your spare tire to the rear panhard? Mine has about quarter of an inch clearance pretty much same as classyjalopy.

Yeah, it's something like that. But of course I want to go bigger 😂

I’ve got no idea how much room (if any) a bent rear bar would make but it would be pretty cool to be able to stuff a ≈34" tire under there while keeping the hitch in place.

OEM rear shocks
OEM rear pads and rotors
Adjusted parking brake
Rear sway bar bushings and end links
OEM pinion seal and flange
Changed rear diff fluid
Center diff lock pressure switch.

Slowly working my way to the front.

How did the baking brake adjustment go? Did you just adjust the clicking star wheel inside the rear drum portion?
Or did you mess with linkage/lever/etc. as well?

Not today but got few things done over the last couple of months…

I did this job on mine a week ago. Easy, once you figure out the adjustment wheel location (slightly left from bottom or @5 of a clock), the direction to tighten (towards to the center of the wheel), and handling both torch and screw driver combination.
Only break shoes adjusted on both sides. Parking break is right around 3 clicks.

Nice rig! Do those aux lights not fit to mount on the bumper top plate below the stinger?

I wish they did. They are a little too tall to fit in there. Either I need to cut the stinger or go with a smaller lights. I most likely will end up swapping the bumper with modular Dissent bumper or an ARB.

Replaced worn leather shift knob cover with eBay genuine leather for $22. Not a bad deal. It comes mostly sewn up. I had to drill two holes for the screws and enlarge the opening for the O/D switch.

You could just put the cover on if you wanted a quick fix but it looks much better with the leather tucked in.

Nice job. I pulled the leather off mine since it was so messed up. I'm no seamster, how do you go about sewing it up completely? Do you need an upholstery needle or something? Are the holes themselves already there?

Replaced my cv axles- actually started last weekend- what a bear, couldn’t get either axle out of the hub, both came out of the diff real easy. Boogered up the spindle bearing on driver side- not sure what book time is but I bet it took me 13 hours….😆 also lowered the torsion bars down a bit- I had 22.5 on passenger and 21.75 on driver- made them both 21.5 and hope these axles last forever.

The kit I got had the holes already punched and came with two needles and a hook tool. Just thread both needles (no knots). While the new cover is off, I loosely laced the leather until about 2-3 inches from the end. Place the cover on, tuck in the O/D button and around the shift button opening. Insert the shift button and screw it on. Next, work the thread down from the top using the hook tool to tighten the seams. Work your way down to the bottom just like tightening shoe laces and finish stitching up the rest and finally, loop the thread at the bottom through the last holes twice and knot it off.

I did not remove the shifter knob completely as I did not feel like doing a lot of work de-pinning the O/D button. But it could turn out nicer if you go that route. Only took about 20-30 min in the truck.
