With your LRA tank - you must be getting 500+ miles between the fill ups!
I try to fill up at the light. When the low fuel light comes on I have reliably had 5-6 gallons left in the tank. Light came on at 503 miles, but I typically get 450 miles to the light. I filled up at 519 miles and put in 34.8 gallons. Cruiser gets much better economy at 60-65mph than it does at 75-80mph

Been meaning to install a fire extinguisher for a while now.

Installed 275/70/18 Nitto Ridge Grapplers today. Overall for the ten miles I've driven them, I'm very happy. They seem to have about the same amount of road noise as the Cooper ST Maxx's I had on before and have the firmer yet not jarring ride... hopefully these ones will wear better!

Installed the whiteline steering bushings today. Did the whole thing without jacking up the truck. I had to unbolt one steering arm from the knuckle to have enough room to slide the bushings in. Using the bolt and washers to pull the top bushing in was the necessary trick. Old bushings didn't look too terrible but they were definitely allowing movement. They are much softer.

steering is much more precise. i didn't really have a problem with the steering before but it's very responsive now. the power steering pump makes less noise as well. it didn't really quiet down after the flush but this made it quieter. it wasn't particularly noisy before but i was starting to notice the sound.

Excellent job! I am sitting on a set for months now just dreading how I will get the old ones out. How did the removal go for you? ANy tips/tricks?

i have done the job on all three of my 100 series, getting the bushings out was easy, getting the new ones in properly was a challenge but with a little patience and a little shifting the rack around its not too bad a job. pro tip, dont tighten down any of the bolts or the u-bolt style bracket until you get all the bushings in and seated properly, you need that play in the rack to get to the smaller bushings. I did not disconnect any of the steering components either.

The little bushings just pulled out with a screwdriver? Or did you have enough room to press them out somehow?

what year is your LC? the bushings are different. on the 98-02 you just pry or push the bushings out with a screwdriver or something. the 03-07 have bushings pressed in metal sleeves that are very difficult to remove(from what i hear).
but i agree with others that on 98-02 bushing removal is trivial. getting in new ones requires some thinking. but use the bolt and nut method. it works.

yes, flat head and just pop them out, if they are really worn they will come out quite easily

Thanks @Rokketz , thanks @Brandon Ryder - Mine is 98. May be I will try it this weekend!
one more thing. my pressed in bushings looked ok. it was just the D shaped one that was obviously slipping. you might get 80% of the improvement with 20% of the work by just replacing the D first. just a thought.

The little bushings were not coming out easily for me, so I jammed a big screw driver (handle hanging below the frame) on the bushing between the sleeve and rack and use my floor jack to push on the handle of the screw driver and ultimately push the bushing out. Piece of cake.
