First, there were switches and then there was LIGHT!

The lights can also shine amber and also have a strobe function.

For the rear I wanted some lights to help reverse at night, especially with the dark tinted windows. I found these cool rectangular flush mount lights that fit perfectly in the rear bumper cover without fouling on the metal support behind it.

I wanted to add a set of fog lights also and chose these amber LED fogs: https://amzn.to/2PdLvce

They tuck up pretty good but if I smash them on some rocks it won't hurt too bad as they are only $30 each.

My truck is still trying my patience. I was about a 100 miles away from home when I heard loud twang from the right front (where I just replaced the OEM cv axle). I was at 80mph on an interstate highway so I pulled over as soon as I could.

The hub was really hot but otherwise everything seemed just fine. Pulled into a parking lot and jacked up the front with factory Jack, which totally sucked on my lifted truck. Anyway, didn't notice any play or any noise upon rotating the wheel.

Then I turned back and about 70 more miles later started hearing grinding noise coming from the right front hub. This time I looked more closely and noticed the axle has pulled about 2 inches out from the knuckle!

Had the truck towed to the nearest shop and took an uber home with my three kids. At least the kids were excited to seethe flashing lights of the tow truck.

I keep dreaming that this steaming pile of hot garbage will be ready for a summer road trip out west this summer but so far it has been a total money pit.

For anybody else listening, rather than 2" wide tape, I'd go with 1" and just on the upper surface.
Because it'll curl off? That's all I could think looking at it.

So I replaced my recently painted 5 spoke 16"s earlier than expected. Got these 20" tundra platinums wrapped with bridgestone duelers super cheap. Went from 265/70R16s to 275/55R20s.

New LX theme song:

Oooh - like the look of those Hellas.

Which ones did you go with?

Lasted one whole day with the nice bridgestone duelers. Didn't appreciate the donk look so went back to ATs. Found some used toyo open countrys (305/55R20) and dropped them on. God bless the southside tires shops that stay open late on sundays.

New center caps...

New hood and hatch struts . . .

New (?) reman Toyota alternator . . .

Spent our day on the beach at our favorite spot.

Say, does anyone know if the 2nd OR 3rd row seating can be "reversed" so that it faces the rear of the car? We currently have our 3rd row removed and just bring some folding lounge chairs that we setup in the trunk for our beach viewing. But would be kinda cool to get a couch thing going instead with the OEM seats.

Really motivating to get out there

I pulled out the DVD player that I will never use and replaced it with a CB which I will need for Cruise Moab. Since there was an ugly gap I 3D printed a little tray to take up the space and hold random junk.

The CB is a Uniden 520XL which has good reviews and I've seen it recommended here among other places: https://amzn.to/2SOAGQp

I chose a Nagoya antenna (Amazon.com: Nagoya CB-72 28" CB Antenna (26-28 MHz), Center Coil-Loaded Heavy Duty Spring with Magnetic Mount, Includes 18' of RG-58A/U Cable with a PL-259 Connector: Car Electronics) with a magnetic base since I probably won't use the radio much at all outside of off-roading and maybe road trips. Because of that I used a small coax whip (https://amzn.to/37GI2t7) to bring the antenna connection from the radio to the center console bezel and then a bulkhead passthru (https://amzn.to/2HIuIKg) for a clean removable install. I also got this little speaker and mounted it under the dash: https://amzn.to/2T1RCl1

Note: I drilled the hole a little too far forward and the seat can be moved back and contact it so if I were to do it again I'd move it back slightly.
