Mounted a flexible solar panel on the hood.

Had a problem once we put the roof top tent on our Cruiser. Wouldn't fit in the garage anymore. The Cruiser isn't my daily driver and there are times where I wouldn't drive it for a week or two. Before, when I could park in the garage I left it hooked up to a trickle charger to keep the second battery topped up.

Now that I park on the street that isn't a possibility.

So..... came up with this solution (actually copied the idea from a guy on a FJ forum). Flexible 65W solar panel mounted to the hood. Connected it up to a BatteryMINDer. The batteryminder is a solar charger, maintainer, and desulfator all in once package.

This isn't meant to charge the battery at camp, just keep it maintained.

Made my own key fob for it! Titanium frame, PETG 3d printed plastic body. Had it out for 4 days of overlanding, and it was rock solid. Way more sturdy than the stock key. Plus, when I want to "dress it up" I can change the plastics in about 30 seconds to a different design!

@03SaharaV8 nope. I used some spacers in one side though. I’m going to
Make some adjustments tomorrow though because it’s not exactly level and that’s killing me every time I look in the rear view mirror.

i'd be worried about loosing a chunk out of your head if your ever crawling around in the back!
Anything is possible, but That is unlikely because the 3rd row A/C vents act as a stopping point after the 1” guard rail. I plan on maybe using some small containers or modified shoe boxes to put some items up there. Or maybe I’ll just put some jackets and soft items? Definitely no tow hitches, shackles or anything of that nature. Lol.

I think maybe they’re referencing what appears to be sharp edges and corners on the brackets that hold up your loft. If you never go crawling around the back you’re probably never going to hit your head on one of those, but I’ve got scars to prove that I have no idea how high above my head various sharp things have ended up being. YMMV.

I had ice cold AC for a whole day after posting about replacing the condenser and some lines to get my AC working. Got in her this morning and no AC. Rear line has a hole in 2 spots."&&:#"&:##. Have a line spice but need a second one. Using a section of line I replaced earlier that has just the right bend. Covered the open tube with foil for now to keep debris out till the second splice kit comes in.

Nice! What panel and how’d you mount it to the hood?
I was doing some research on renogy panels a while back and was wondering if a permanently mounted 100-watt panel might not go a long way toward keeping the second battery topped off during periods of not running the engine but, say, running the fridge....did some research on attaching them but didn’t find anything very elegant....

The brand is Lensun. For some reason, Amazon isn't showing the model I got. It is 65W.

Mounted on the vinyl hood blackout. Stuck it on the vinyl with 3M VHB tape. Super strong.

I have another 100W panel that I use when camping and running a fridge.

Installed @TrekboxX richlite tailgate cover with pad. Huge improvement over the stained carpet. I can’t wait to break it in at HIHs!!!
