Getting hit on the noggin every time by the rear hatch was getting pretty old. $9 later, offending struts are replaced. I call it 1 hugga-dugga job with impact wrench

Thanks. Oops, I meant the clip part connecting the keychain to fob

Meant to take advantage of this three day weekend and snowstorm to catch up on some projects. #1 was the Slee secondary battery tray.

Unfortunately it is missing some hardware so since I have everything out of the way for that install I figure I can knock out the passenger side header.

Going to install the Doug Thorley set, have a vvti, didn't dyno.

I replaced the AirLift bags in the rear springs today. The old ones had developed a leak, probably where the nipple bent over at the spring base. I enlarged the holes so the connections stay straight down using a step bit and a Dremel cutoff wheel. I'm getting pretty fast at removing the springs now, about an hour per side for the whole job.

Replaced the idler pulley and tensioner pulley bearing, everything is nice and quite now. Thanks for the info and vids @2001LC

B-day gift from the wife!
KC Flex LED's spread pattern (really digging these) also picked up a pair of reverse lights. My old left side reverse light was behind the tire not producing any useable light and also washing out rear glass.

View attachment 1883206 I finally installed my new roof rack. Next up, the RTT.

How was the install of the backbone? Rhinorack told me at expo that it would not fit the LX which I thought sounded fishy. I was just gonna go ahead and buy it anyway but glad someone else did it first!

Today had my tires rotated and a slow leak fixed came home and did an oil change, chassis lube, brake fluid bleed, power steering fluid change, oil pressure switch change, and speedometer gear change to 31 tooth to match my 32s.

I was told the same thing by two different local dealers. However, I contacted the US dealer in Denver and the director of sales spoke with me on the phone. He said their website had not been updated to include the backbone system as an option for the LX470. You do have to drill two holes in the Pioneer Platform. This allows you to relocate one of the mounting bars so the wind deflector or rear spoiler does not hit the rear of the platform when the rear upper hatch is opened. There are directions on the website on how to do this, specific to the Land Crusier but not the LX470. My advice is to take the measurements directly off of the Backbone mounting holes and transfer them to bottom of the Platform. Then, mock up the mounting locations with the platform sitting on the Backbone. This will allow you to visually check to ensure the Wind deflector does NOT come into contact with the Platform.

The rest of the install is pretty straight forward. The Rep also said it wouldn't hurt to apply some RTV to the bolts that secure Backbone to the roof. This is a bit tricky because the the clearances are tight.

knocked out the front speakers yesterday with new foam. Started working on the rear today to realize they are 4" not the 6.5"...

Trying to make it work as it appears there's not a 4" foam kit for this exact speaker and since I had foam for the 6.5", I went ahead and cut it and glued the s*** out of it!

Hopefully, it works but I do have a plan b in case it doesn't.

As a follow-up, I compared the deteriorated version versus the picture below before I took the 2nd rear speaker out and definitely much cleaner sound. I finished up the 2nd which looks a lot nicer and functions just as well.

This is my personal stage 1 from all the upgrades I bought 2-3 months ago. Stage 2 & 3 are under way. Buttoned it up yesterday.

All front suspension bushings replaced
All Sway bar components replaced
SPC UCA's
OME 863's (old setup was 865's)
Re-indexed the torsion bars and raised the front a little
Pulled the ABS/master cylinder setup (AGAIN ) to ensure no leaks... Everything seems good
Method 18's on 295/70/18's
WKOR Sliders

Still needs an alignment

Started and completed my TSX projector retrofit over the weekend. The first side took me all of Saturday, and naturally the second side took a few hours today. Go figure. I still need to have them aimed but I'll need to find a wall with 25' of space in front to do it.

I also got my winch control box mounted up, finally. I'd installed the bumper over Christmas break but left the box uninstalled because I was sick of messing with it at the time. I also needed to figure out how I wanted to mount it. I see a lot of guys run it under the hood but I didn't feel like A) extending the wiring to do that and B) having to pop my hood when I want to use the winch. So I utilized one of the light mounting brackets on my ARB, drilled 2 holes in it, fabbed up a bracket and some spacers to bolt to the bumper then screwed the box to the bracket. Simple enough, will work for the time being. Plus it looks cool.
