Unplanned starter contacts and plunger install. When I opened it up, the amount of green gunk in there definitely was concerning.

I may have replaced the entire starter if I didn't already own the contacts, etc... in my emergency kit. Wanted the truck back on the road. It took me about 6 hours ,I think one hour of it was the drivers side starter bolt.

Saved a black kitten about the same age 4 years ago, stuck in a diamond of a chain link fence. Last year he was shot with a pellet and attacked by some animal. (inside / outside cat) ... Long story short a bumper and sliders worth of vet bills later he still with us. He's a cool ass cat.

Not the most interesting update, but I did a transmission drain and fill and cycled the center diff lock a few times on the subsequent test drive to ensure everything was in working order. Its been almost a year since I had it hooked up to Techstream so it was nice to see nothing lurking/pending in the log data.

Washed the 98 LC for the first time. Also dismantled the sunroof switches and cleaned the contacts. It was sometimes difficult to close. Works great now. Finally, I replaced a 9006 female fog light socket on the driver’s side. Worked like a charm.

Oh boy. The hub bore? Hope so - that can be remedied a few different ways. Anything else may require more than a little effort.

From all the positive feedback the company gets I would like to think they will take care of you on the product end - Labor on the other hand ???

Yep. So I went back to Discount Tire and had them verify balancing and all fives were needing rework. So I thought good to go, but then driving home the same vibes existed.

So I figure I’d swap the fronts with the rears, maybe a front had a flat spot or something, then I saw this.

So yeah, pretty disappointing. I need to find a machine shop willing to mill this out. Extra disappointing because I was told they would fit prior to ordering.

Hopefully they make it right.

Pulled all the old wood grain off a few weeks ago, but wasn't thrilled with the plastic. I liked the black but wanted to do something different. Went with a black cherry replacement kit. Gives it a nice updated look to the tired interior.

I did the same exact thing and same color when I got my TLC almost three years ago. The old was pealing and partially missing and with the ebony zebra or whatever it was called. Looked great with the gray leather.

Added a gooseneck mount for my handheld transceiver and a magmount antenna for the roof. Also, added some pinstripe after a quick jaunt down some unmaintained gravel roads in the area. Wife isn't happy, so I should probably ask if there's a way to minimize or recover from pinstriping.

Bummer is an understatement but we'll keep it G rated.

It's like the wheel fits 99.9% of the way and then they threw on this micro lip that seems so unnecessary - but I would guess it's there for the center cap.

I'm actually equally disappointed in Discount for not catching it as they torqued the lugs down embedding the wheel hub lip into the axle hub bolts/nuts.

This was the exact problem many 100 owners faced with the Rock Warriors as well as aftermarket wheel spacers.

Those 6 studs have caused a lot of 4 letter words.

We'll have to see if boring the wheel hub causes you to lose your center caps. Hope not but wouldn't be the end.

I'm just really glad you caught this without any catastrophic consequences.

Sorry it happened. Keep us posted.

Ok, so this don't sound like a lot, but I got into this one good. Did the rear and transfer case gear oil changes yesterday, finished up the front diff today. Every bolt - all six - were so stinking tight! Had to use a cheater on all six, they popped loudly each time they broke loose. Rear and TC oil needed changed, not terrible, but the front was really black and a definitely thicker than the other two, wonder when the last time it was changed.

While in there tried to grease the front prop shaft spider and slip yoke that I didn't do last month when I did the rear driveshaft. The slip joint took grease, but only extended a bit each pump, then back but nothing came out. Couldn't get the grease fitting properly on the zerk for the spider, grease everywhere except in the bearings, what a mess. Decided to drop the front of prop shaft to get easier access to that bugger. Sweet Jesus, those bolts were tight. Bolts out, now can't get it to break loose from the front diff flange. BFH (plastic) whacked it good and finally moving, still ain't coming down, what the heck? Raise the front jack stands higher to get front wheels of the ground so can spin the prop. Decide to take out the zerk, maybe grease pressure extending the slip joint, completely round off the zerk so resort to channel locks to remove the recalcitrant little beast. Comes out, no grease shooting out, but when I yank on the prop shaft, it finally compresses, grease starts coming out the hole, and finally get the slip joint working and more grease coming out, and now realize the prop shaft has an extension ring (?) that fits into the front diff flange, no wonder I couldn't get it to just pull free. All this just to grease the spider, but good thing, super black grease gets pushed out must not have been done in ages, finally see the clean grease and I really need a beer at this point.

Get the zerk back in, reassemble everything, 59ft-lbs is worth a grunt each bolt. Some funky black grease started coming out of the slip yoke with all the dis-and-re-assembly, super happy to see that, grease it again, and eventually clean grease comes out! More clean up, put the plastic and TC skid back on, done and clean up and it is only 1am, jeez.

That was a ton of work to change gear oil and lube a few things. But I got a couple new tools, feel proud to be doing my own work on the best vehicle I've ever owned, and appreciate all the great info on here that makes it possible. Can't believe how awesome this site is.

Ozone treatment to get rid of cigarette odor (from P.O.) that lingered even after powerwashing carpet, cleaning seats, headliner and all interior surfaces. Ran it for two hours + 15 mins with air on.

How did it work out? I've never heard of this before, would be nice to know it can be eliminated.

STT Pros look great-(maybe even better with white letters in :smokin:)
Do you notice much more road noise from inside the cabin?
I came from toyo at’s. So there is more noise but nothing that bothers me. It isn’t lounder than the engine noise.

If you can find someone who does ozone treatments, it should work great. In the meantime, pour some white vinegar in a small container and leave it in the truck until it evaporates. Yes, it will smell like vinegar for a few days, but the odor will dissipate.

Swapped out a dead navigation DVD drive for a junkyard replacement then updated to latest bootleg map DVD. Finally have the in dash navigation working again!!
