Eventually swapped out my factory springs+30mm MAF spacers for OME 865s. The spring compressors really help getting the factory ones out and then the OME ones just go in by hand which was nice.

Had been one of the installs I kept delaying but turned out to go quick.

Did a 2.5 quart incremental drain and fill on the tranny. After two years and ~25k miles the fluid looked really good, so I skipped the full flush I was prepared to do.
That's two years and 25k miles on Maxlife ATF in a WS ATF tranny, for the record. Still shifting buttery smooth.

I have found some Toyota dealerships in our area use Maxlife ATF

I changed out my ATF. At 165k, whatever was in there came out looking like pond water. I flushed it with 16 qts of WS.

I’d like to thank Toyota for “sealing” the transmission and making an easy PM into a PITA.

^^^ Next time use a heat gun,it will soften the sealer and easier to remove. HB got them for real cheap.

I did some drain and fills before 120k miles with WS and at 120k miles had Slee do the total exchange with WS. I wasn't hard at all just handed Slee my Visa card

I enjoyed this PM when I had a dipstick. Now I have use the hidden fill port, then check it with the overflow plug...signing a CC slip seems like a good alternative.

LX was missing the toolkit and spare security key when I bought it, so I finally managed to get all the parts together to drop the spare. Got new tire mounted up since a 13 year old tire that's the wrong size isn't very good as a spare.

Change the pan to a 2003 pan and you can get your dipstick back.

Ordered Slee SliderSteps. My wife originally wanted the MetalTech sliders, but their service leaves a lot to be desired. After several contact attempts I finally got someone on the phone who said they were out and had no production schedule. He was supposed to be finding out and emailing me the info. Never heard anything further. The Slee's are a lot more money but their responsiveness has been top notch.

Did my 400k service... Just recently lost 5th gear so had a friend check the gearbox and it was the gasket leaking ever so slowly so I just didn't have enough gear oil... Caught that in time and serviced the gearbox, replaced the engine & gearbox mountings while we were there. Did a service over the weekend, some cost comparisons going "genuine" vs other options

Mr Cruiser for genuine parts
Air Filter $75 Transerv $15
Fuel filter $58 Z188 GUD Transerv $7.50
Oil Filter $30 Z230 Transerv $11

I tried Delo Gold or Delo 400 and after some smoke issues on a cold start, and considering what came out after the service I went back to fully synthetic, we have 2 options here, either Fuchs Super Sin $114 for 12 litres or Castrol Edge $33/5 litre = $99 for 15 litres

But first I drained the black delo gold and dropped 10 litres of Castrol red 15w40 in there and ran the engine for 10 to 15 mins to clean up all the old oil, then let that drain before putting the Castrol Edge in there, 11.4 litres

The air filter and oil filter was easy but the fuel filter was a real baasted to remove as it was locked down too tight... Luckily I had a filter wrench and it eventually came off!

Some enjoyable time spent working under the bonnet and the cruiser and I serviced it for under $150 :) still need to replace the timing belt and check the transfer and diff oils but it's only really needed within the next 50k .... Km not miles, but still proud!

A friend gave me some LED bulbs from Aussie eBay and last night I tried them out in the bright, then dim, then finally fog lamp but nothing worked... So tonight I replaced the fuse and they work pretty well in the fog lamps
